In the more shady part of Town, far from such lively places as the Cathedral of Flames or the Dancing Fox Inn, where thick clouds of fog fill the air, a new building has appeared. Relatively small and unassuming from the outside, the Inquisition appears no more than a black wooden shack. Those who persist will find it windowless and reinforced with plates of steel. But between the fog, the neighborhood, and the very nature of the building, anyone who is not heading for the place on purpose is very likely to ignore, even completely overlook the Inquisition.
Entrance is granted via a black wooden door on the side of the building. It opens into a shadowy hallway with a ceiling that seems higher than it should. Various items and artifacts hang from the walls, or are placed on various shelves. Chains dangle from the rafters. The room has a draft. On either side of the creaking floorboards are four or five erratically placed doors, made of dark wood filled with knots. Somewhere in the middle of the darkish hallway is a side hall that descends into even deeper shadows than the first. At the very end of the first hall is a door, more elaborate and sturdy-looking than the others. On the front is the skull of some bizarre animal from another plane. The door opens to the office of The Inquisitor, Xallace Ja'Mord. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17658&page=28)
The office is similar in design to the rest of the building, made of blackish-blue wood, with a strangely high ceiling. The rafters, high above, seem randomly placed. Strange things hang down ten or more feet. The room itself is in the shape of some ugly polygon, and is studded on the sides with an assortment of artifacts and items even more exotic than before. In the middle of the room is a wooden desk, covered in papers, pens, a greyish, old looking globe, and a humanoid skull. Directly behind the desk is a tall wall of neatly organized dark cubbies and cabinets.
The exact purpose of The Inquisition varies. In general, information that is supposed to be secret can be found out here, always for a price, and often for new bits and pieces of information. If the information is not known here already, either Xallace or one of his many agents can be hired to be sent out to garner it. For targets... less than willing to cooperate in revealing information, there is a torture chamber belowground, filled with the most fiendish and diabolical intruments conceivable. There are also prisoner cages, for those unwilling to admit their secrets. The servants of The Inquisitor include various constructs, in addition to a small group of free-thinking spies and information gatherers, mostly made up of Changelings. Will add bios to these characters later. Favors and money can also be made here by exchanging information with Ja'Mord. Many an unassuming hobo has made a fortune by revealing secrets of a more substantial nature here.
Unless Xallace is here, the building is locked and protected by a variety of charms and abjurations. Only he and the constructs live here, and those are kept turned off unless needed.
