OK so I got an idea for a poll. Not sure how to do it. But here's goes.

Hmm I know this is a flawed sampling but it seems that people really like the MITD topic but tend to dislike anything with the word alignment in it. I'm not sure how do a post count/word count but it would almost seem to imply then that a topic is sure to get more posts and views if it is an a hated topic

At first I thought this was a poll asking for people's opinions on each. You know, to consolidate them all in one convenient thread.

I'll just say that I really like how the MitD's identity is now actually a legitimate topic since Rich said it is an actual D&D monster and he's been dropping small hints about its strengths/weaknesses.

Hmm...what I'll think I'll do is tally up each vote in order if given and keep a running count. I wonder if I can do a table on this board...have to look at the FAQ.

Anyway, here's my picks in order

1. V's gender -- too many opportunities for jokes to pass up

2. RC's alignment -- interesting from a literary point if views

3. Belkar hate/love -- another case study in human psychology, the posters not Belkar's

4. Belkar's alignment -- another case study in human psychology, the posters not Belkar's

5. V's alignment -- not us funny as gender

6. V's four words -- not us funny as gender

7. Miko's alignment -- no feelings about Miko so was not interestes

8. Miko hate/love -- no feelings about Miko so was not interestes

9. MITD's identity -- not enough clues

1. V's gender - Hate it, in my mind V is male, and even Rich coming out and saying that he's female won't make me change my mind

2. V's alignment - Indifferent, I'm not too bothered

3. V's four words - I don't mind these, since there are a couple of good jokes you can get out of them

4. Belkar's alignment - Hate it, He's Chaotic Murderous, get over it!

5. Belkar hate/love - Don't really like it, I couldn't really care less if someone likes/dislikes a character in a webcomic

8. RC's alignment - I've not seen this one debated at all, so I'm indifferent

(cannot be known. There is no freaking point to this, but the debate rages on endlessly)

2. Belkar's alignment
(totally and completely unambiguous. Not only has it been stated IN THE COMIC ITSELF (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0489.html), the Giant has said it on numerous occasions. Total waste of time.)

3. RC's alignment
(For crying out loud, he has LAW as one of his DOMAINS! And is hurt by Smite Evil. Fortunately the debate doesn't come up much since as far as I can tell there is exactly one person on this board who feels compelled to argue for another alignment.)

4. Miko hate/love
(It just seems like water under the bridge at this point. But she is a controversial character, and people are entitled to their opinions.)

5. Miko's alignment
(I find this one slightly more interesting than the debate over whether or not people like Miko.)

6. Belkar hate/love
(This one has gotten more interesting over time since several people who used to love him are now irritated by him -- or irritated by the treatment he's been receiving. And some of us who were amused by him but didn't exactly like him have actually found his development more interesting than usual. And some of those who just really really hated him are perhaps enjoying him getting his "just desserts." It's pretty relevant to what's going on in the comic currently.)

7. V's four words
(Comes up all the time. Maybe kind of pointless, but it does inspire a lot of curiosity, so I don't really mind it. Will the four words be IMMEDIATELY obvious as the fateful choice, or will they seem to be something more innocuous that only later is it revealed that they set V down the path to ultimate arcane power? The mystery is what helps keep it interesting.)

8. V's alignment
(More relevant than ever these days. Has she changed alignments? The fact that we've never known for certain what her original alignment is only complicates the issue.)

9. MITD's identity
(I'm totally liking the "he's a pokemon!" theory, weird as it may seem.)

To be fair, that comic came out after years of Belkar alignment threads. A far better *early* example would be here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0011.html), since only an evil character would be unaffected by the spell.

Tolerate/like:

MitDs identity- it's fun and, according to the commentary in War and XPs, it's possible to figure out.
Miko hate/love- they're rare and occasionally have good arguments.
V's 4 words- mainly since people make humerous guesses.

Dislike:
V's gender, unless it has a new theory.
Belkar hate/love- They mainly boil down to 'Is sadistic 1-d violence funny'
Miko's alignment- LG. Too LG.
Redcloak's alignment- LE. Can this even be disputed?

Hate:
V's alignment- there are far too many of them. Schlee/schlim is Lawful Neutral.
Belkar's alignment- Even Wikipedia has agreed that he's CE. This included a discussion and reference gathering. Anyone who claims belkar isn't CE is either:
A Belkar fan who doesn't like the idea of baking an evil character (even though they like him because of the violence).
