Jonathan (Nathan) Carl DeBelly, jr was born this morning at around 4:40 AM Central Standard Time. He is 3.2 lbs and 16 (!) inches - long for a baby born 2 months early.

We are fine, ER is wonderful, and baby is healthy with a full head of hair.

Have fun having no life for the next 18-22 years.

It's not so much "no life" as "a completely different life." The pleasures that you found enjoyable before may become even more enjoyable if/when you find your child shares your interests.

18 years? No, it's probably only 14 to 21 years, depending on what you find enjoyable... or even fewer, for ...less risky pleasures (comic books, Sonic the Hedgehog, comic books of Sonic the Hedgehog, LEGO, literature... whatever). When he's old enough, (and raised correctly... family values can be passed on) he can become as much a compatriot and friend as much as a subordinate and ward... which is one definition of son...

Dallas-Dakota
2008-11-17, 03:51 PM
LEGO, literature...
For some reason I read it like this the first time I read it :

LEGO literature...
....

Let's hope he'l turn out to be a good kid, hmm?
Also once again, best of luck with having two kids now. Also, pay attention to William, he's going to feel underappreciated because his lil' bro wil be hogging much of the attention. Please don't let this happen, I've seen it happen to many times already.(Pretty big family)(As in age spread.)

I completely agree with you, except, as I am the wife, I'm a little less keen to go through with the whole pregnancy-followed-by-labour bit. Why can't we just get storks to deliver babies to us?

EPIC WIN!

Man, he looks just like his dad. I mean, look at those hands - those are good for rolling 20s! I've seen Andre "role" and roll well, and young jr here will certainly fill the role of rolling like his dad rolls "roles".

Congratulations Andre and ER. Another "dragonborn" brought into the fold. Now the only question is - will he be wizard or warrior in nature? William is definitely warrior, so I'd wager opposite for Johnny.

Andre Fairchilde
2008-11-18, 12:08 PM
I don't know, he's about as feisty as Wiliam was when he was born too.

What's wrong with more than 1 warrior in the home? :smallwink:

He's a day old and off the respirator and breathing on his own.

It'll be a few weeks before we get him home, because I guess right now he can only do one of the three following:

Breathe or
Suck or
Swallow

So the little guy is not on solid foods yet, and it'll be at least three weeks or so before we can consider him coming home.

Congrats again to the pair of you!

Was he a ceaser ER? I guess thats why you are finding it hard to sit up, always tricky after the surgeon cuts through all those muscles and all. I wish you a speedy recovery, and I feel your pain, both of ours went straight to special care, and both were ceasers.

Yes, he was an emergency section, as he had a foot out, and I was having no contractions. :smalltongue:

I am home from the hospital since Friday. Still having trouble moving, but it is getting better every day. (And I have pain killers for when it is not...) It's nice to not have to stay in bed all the time, but having to pump every three hours has its own annoyances.

Baby is doing great! He's got no more IVs, only wearing the nasal feeding tube (since he's still to little to nurse) and his monitors. It's much nicer knowing he hasn't got to be stuck and restuck every time they need to move a line somewhere else.

He's up to 3.6 lbs (1.63 kgs for the rest of you ) and eating 29 mls every 3 hours.

It's still really hard since he is there, and I am not, but I'm trying to reconcile with the fact that it's likely to be awhile yet before he can come home...:smallfrown:

And what goofTrog said it was twelve years until he could start gaming? Start him as soon as he can read!
Fixed it for you. Goofs and Trogs are often mixed up, but you can consort with Goofs. :smalltongue:

I know any child born unto the Fairchilde clan will be rolling as soon as their hands can grip dice. :smallamused:

I know this because he's the only one in the ICU who has a DM screen up next to his crib.

I'm not saying the Fairchilde's are into gaming, but I did have to roll a open door check with a DC of 17 last time I was over at their place. :smallwink:

Wow, I'm really happy for the both of you. I hope you're not sick of congratulatory messages yet, because you're going to get a lot more!

May your baby kick monstrous amounts of butt during its life.
