Why did you put such a long link for my entry, RSJ? Are you subliminally advertising it or something?

I put in the link what you put in the link (http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Contests;action=display;num=11577530 24;start=0#6). So the question becomes, were you attempting to subliminally advertise it? ;)

Well, I've voted. It was tough choosing in some categories, but I think my choices were sound. I recommend reading all the way through the entries, I found that some I initially liked sort of fell apart half way through, whereas others really came together the more you read.
Good luck to everyone else who entered, I've got my fingers crossed - hoping to win an award in my first ever entry.

They link to where people's posts in the Entry Thread linked. Who knows better than the creator where they'd like you to start reading?

I've "fixed" them, but only because I am an unbelieveably nice fellow. 8)

Yes ...
I think the main way to fix that is to make contest entries truly short. The pirates turned out shorter than the Summer Organizations, on average, but still long enough to intimidate me away from reading them all enough to vote. (Of course, that's partially because I'm extremely busy lately ... hence not finishing my own pirate entry :( ...)

Someone who has been doing this for a while can give you a more certain answer, but traditionally, every other month or so, I believe. Looking forward, I think we're aiming for monthly.

Considering I didn't get a single vote in any category, I think you should.

I guess people didn't appreciate a more realistic (if such can be used for a D&D character) pirate.

I wouldn't say that. My entry was pretty realistic; you could set Nicole the Harpy in historical fiction if you removed her magical powers. She still managed to win Best Pirate, though. I believe your problem was a stereotypical pirate, not a realistic pirate. He lacked that extra oomph that would make me sit up and say, "This is an interesting pirate!"

(I should take this moment to note that Sid Meier's Pirates! was my major source of pirate info & enthusiasm for this contest.)

Thanks to all who voted for my entry, I really am fond of it. If only all six of my votes were in the same category, then I might have a shiny award ;D. Still, it's good to see that some people liked most aspects of my entry.
