View Full Version : 40k - Got orks, no legs, need interesting suggestions

So, I recently got a set of about 40 sprued orks (for Warhammer 40k). Problem is, no legs included.

"Find them on eBay" seems boring (and they don't have much) so I am trying the think of interesting things to do instead. For example, my Big Mek is already a small tank from the waist down.

Stilts, hovercrafts, tracks, I need more crazy and orky suggestions!
(Bonus points if actually do-able!)

This seems like the perfect situation to have a horde of orks with monowheels!!!

Clearly all your stormboys opt to have limbs amputated in order to have less weight and therefore go faster.

Makes sense to me.

Bionik Exploding legs were mentioned in Ork codex.

Dakka.

Make the legs rockets and machine guns and such.

whatever the solution you need to make an awesome backstory as to why several orks all lost their legs.

The legs are there, they are just invisible.

The Mad Dok made somthing that he claimed would turn the Boyz invisible. However, they only sort of believed that it would work...

Grots carry them into battle?

That. Is. Fantastic!!

And there I was also thinking "How can I convert some kommando's from normal orcs...".

Just wondering how to do it. Perhaps a thin wire?

Hehe, for the record 2 years ago I entered a flocked base with two hoof prints on it and a label saying TAU STEALTHSUIT ->

hee hee  that ought to get at least a laugh from opponents.

I remember the rather good Stealth suit Dioramu in White Dwarf- not invisible, but quite good at giving impression of transparency.

I support this suggestion, and would like to offer a visual aid:

Except crap get's in the barrel and causes the gun to explode. Destroying it.

Sounds like a properly Orky way to go, really.

All the better.

These are orks. They fire 2 inch hand held autocannon that work pretty much by faith. I think a bit of dirt won't be a problem at all.

A bunch of legless Orks carried into battle by grots dudn't sound like a bad idea at all ... OR you could buy a few Tamiya TRACK & WHEEL sets and put 'em all on tank wheels ...

should they be waving beer bottles?

Maybe not that kind of legless

See if you can find a whole set of the gothic lamp-posts from Cities of Death. Put one on every base, use them for support :smallwink:

Alternatively, use the Victoria Lamb (http://www.victorialamb.com/wugs/fire%20gallery/pages/fireyangel5.htm) method. No idea where the fire might come from.

I personally like the monowheel idea. Nothing, and by it I mean NOTHING can beat the image of a squad of orc charging into the battlefield riding UNICYCLES

No-no! Not riding unicycles, they are the monowheels!

Yeah, that was one of the things I was thinking about when doing the mek. Gotta raid my old lego box to see what I have resource wise...

They could move by chucking each other forward, but it is sure to have some problems.

Alternatively, you could base your whole army as if waist-deep in a swamp or river, using a lot of water effect. Simple enough, really.
I used a similar effect for one of my Skaven tunnel markers:

Wood pegs and parrots perhaps?

You could all model them as if wading through water/undergrowth and thus the bodies are directly placed on the base or on some growth.

Eg: Ork coming out of barrel, up to the chest in water, exiting fake rock, bursting out of bushes...

No wait, get a regular Nob kit, and add him to the squad.

Ya see, the Nob wanted to make sure none of the other Boyz in his mob got bigger than him, so's he chopped off their legs.

I would try and find some sort of tracked vehicle toy that could work as an undercarriage and paint them with red warpaint to go fasta. Add one of those mechanic orcs to the boyz and perhaps count them as being on cyboars?

Wheelchairs.

Da red wunz go fasta.

Someone already posted the Planet Terror? Damn.

Umm...make them the stealthy orks and have their torso's all emerging from bushes or trashcans or something.

Red wheelchairs would be hard to model but...wait a sec. Ok, i got some of those tiny little epic models including miniature land-raiders.
"Look wut da mek boy fixed up for me! Trade'd in dem old legz for this littl' truk 'ere."

And yes, paint it red.

I recently tried this with a friend of mine and found out that it isnt all roses. Bugger got himself a set of prothetics and inch longer than his old legs.
