Because I'm on a bit of a Star Wars kick of late, I'd love to hear about what other people are doing right now. I'm fairly certain I did one of these a long while ago, but can't find the thread. In any case, that was then, this is now.

So if people wouldn't mind answering this little questionnaire...

...I've quoted my clarification under each question, so it can be easily quoted and responded to, without having to delete a load of stuff.

What system are you using?

I ask this, because I'm not assuming everyone is using SWd20 or Saga Edition - after all this is an "and General RPG" forum too. Besides which there's WEG/d6 which predates both, and there's a lengthy tradition of people converting all and sundry to do Star Wars.

If you like, tell us why you went with the system you did.

When is the game set? Where is it set?

By which I mean what Era of Play (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_publishing_eras), if any is it set in (if none of them then it's Infinities by default)? Is there a particular point on the timeline you can point to and say "it's set in this year"?

Also where in the known galaxy are events taking place? Just one location or do you travel around a lot?

Is it a "movie Star Wars" game, or one "set in the Star Wars universe"?

Potentially contentious question, but I'll define what I mean. If it's a game of swashbuckling adventure, spanning many systems and shaking the very pillars of the setting, it's "movie Star Wars".

If it's very much more local in focus, with characters focusing on living their lives and getting by, especially the "tramp freighter" style games, then it's a game "set in the Star Wars universe". That's not intended as a judgement, just a classification.

What is "canon"?

The thorny question of what you and your group consider authoritative sources for the game. Is it just the movies (or even just the original trilogy)? Do you use some bits of the Expanded Universe? If so what and why? Who made the decision as to what was out and in?

Have you made any major changes to the setting?

How did you deal with the "Jedi question"?

In the movies, the Jedi are often better than everyone else at a lot of things. Different systems try to handle this in a variety of ways, most often by nerfing Jedi. Or alternatively games in the Rebellion era don't have to worry about it so much because there aren't any around. Or not many. Either way, most games have to come to some kind of accomodation with how Jedi are to be handled, so they don't overshadow everyone else.

So how is it dealt with in your game? Does the system help here at all?

Who are the characters?

Both individually and collectively. In as much detail as you feel necessary, who are each of them, what are they about? Is there a definite leader? And collectively, are they organised in any fashion? Are they a Rebel cell, or a Jedi and entourage, or some other specific kind of "unit"?

What have been the highlights so far?

Just a summary of some of the cool things that have happened in the game.

What makes it "feel like Star Wars"?

Do you have a link to an Actual Play report, or wiki, or webpage on the game?

Because perhaps you don't feel like either rehashing what's already recorded elsewhere, or you've given us all enough to want to know more. If you've got some kind of external source where it's all recorded, link it.

Anything else you want to tell us?

For anything that I haven't asked about, that you'd like to tell us.

What system are you using?
It was old Star Wars d20, before Saga Edition. I don't recall more than that.

When is the game set? Where is it set?
During the Old Republic, though it wasn't important.

Is it a "movie Star Wars" game, or one "set in the Star Wars universe"?
Universe.

What is "canon"?
Whatever the GM decided. Mostly the films, though the Essential Guides helped a lot.

How did you deal with the "Jedi question"?
We didn't. There were two Jedi, and some bounty hunters and stuff. It was a one-shot, whadda ya want?

Who are the characters?
Mercenaries for the most part, along with a pair of jedi who got caught up with these unsavories. My poor Arkanian Jedi...

What have been the highlights so far?
Well, it was a one-shot where we were supposed to save these innocents that were captured by pirates (don't ask, I don't recall) Things went poorly, to say the least, and we had to blow up the transport the innocents were on and flee. The pirates decided to attack OUR ship (some light freighter we turned into a gunship) with some fighters. The group takes a vote, and orders us Jedi to try and use Force Pull to pull ourselves onto the fighters... yeaaaah. We ended up surviving longer than everyone else though, since they got blown into space dust by a proton torpedo, whilst we floated in the inky black void of space until our suits ran out and we died horribly.

Well, it was awesome at the time!

Do you have a link to an Actual Play report, or wiki, or webpage on the game?
No. This was years ago.

Anything else you want to tell us?
No. :smalltongue:
There you are, questions answered. I mostly just wanted to tell a story that ended with me drifting in space until I died of "exposure", in a sense. It was pretty fun at the time, but... it WAS a one-shot roughly 3 years ago, so I don't recall things that well.

I've been running a small series of adventures within our gaming community, where we take turns to run different games. Some highlights from the current series:

I use the Legacy era (130ABY+) as a basic framework for events.
My players have paved the way for the orbital bombardment of Ossus...
Recaptured the Planet Bastion from the Sith, first capturing space dry-docks...
And then the central control for the Southern Continent...
And rescued the Princess Fel.

I have a Human Soldier/Scoundrel, Human Scout/Soldier, Wookie Soldier/Jedi(Jedi) and an Ithorian Soldier/Jedi(Imperial Knight) playing. The players are very good at amusing themselves, which often involves blowing things up, like 4 vertical lanes of traffic in a built up area.

The next adventure is titled "Visions". Guess what it will entail.

What system are you using?
Star Wars Saga edition, with modified space combat rules

When is the game set? Where is it set?
The game is set 10 years after starwars: Episode IV A New Hope, right in the “dead” spot (yeah I know, reborn emperor, which I think is stupid so I’m not using it).

Is it a "movie Star Wars" game, or one "set in the Star Wars universe"?
It’s a sandbox style “Starwars Universe game”

What is "canon"?
The movies, the X-wing books and the “Zhan trilogy” so far

How did you deal with the "Jedi question"?
Players must find Luke Skywalker to become Jedi, in order to do this, I roll randomly on a table I created to determine where Luke is (since he’s scoring the galaxy looking for people to train). If they get lucky, he goes to a planet the players are on.

Who are the characters?
Vulkule, a human soldier, force sensitive (focused in grappling)
Tuocs, a Kel’dor scout with a stun baton, also force sensitive
An unnamed human solider,
An unnamed Zabrak scoundrel, he’s an off an on player so he’s not going to be there every game.

What have been the highlights so far?
Not much, due to me being sick, I just ran them through a “mock combat” against some storm troopers, in which I rolled consistent 17s on all their attacks, thusly I would have killed the whole party before the game even began. So I had to fudge some dice to keep them alive, pitty huh.

Do you have a link to an Actual Play report, or wiki, or webpage on the game?
Nope, but I was thinking of running a game journal here once the game got off the ground.

Anything else you want to tell us?
We’re doing this every two weeks, since someone else wants to run a dnd 4E game, so we’re switching off weeks.

What system are you using?

West End Games 2nd edition

When is the game set? Where is it set?
The Death Star was blown up six months ago ( not that we know that, the official line is it is in hiding until it is needed again)
We all started on Tatooine but the game is now set on our ship ' The Long Shot'

Is it a "movie Star Wars" game, or one "set in the Star Wars universe"?

Not quite sure what you mean by that. We haven't meet any of the characters from the movies or taken part in any of its events. So far

What is "canon"?

The movies, the RPG books, what the G.M. says

How did you deal with the "Jedi question"?

There is only one jedi character (mine). My character discovered the Lightsabre of a long dead Jedi master and his ghost has occasionally been able to instruct me. I also studied under a Sand People shaman ( a minor Force user) and good old fashioned messing about and seeing what works.
My character isn't even aware Luke exists and will be pissed off when he does find out as he rather likes the idea of being the only Jedi left

Who are the characters?

Ottar Logan, hard-bitten human bounty hunter and rotten poker player
Fola Renton, humanoid alien and free-lance archaeology professor
Kalathar, questing prince of a lost tribe of Wookie
Deva Rodik, swoop punk turned apprentice Jedi knight
Two N.P.C.'s
Eleanor Renton, 12 year old tech wiz and runaway
R5, far smarter than he should be robot with way too much attitude

What have been the highlights so far?

That would have to be the time we desguised ourselves as Imperial Storm-Troppers and the Wookie as Darth Vader ( yes you read that right) and conned the govenor of an Imperial Prisoner into giving us 5 of his High Security prisoners

Do you have a link to an Actual Play report, or wiki, or webpage on the game?

Sorry, no

Anything else you want to tell us?

The plan to disguise the Wookie as Darth Vader was actually a lot more carefully planned and sensible than it sounds

Game I'm running currently is in my Signiture under eclipse station, There are actually 3 or 4 starwars games I see with a decent amount of regularity on the forums.

My system of choice is a mix of Starwars d20, most of the stuff from revised, and the old West End d6 for space combat. I've run every edition, so I like to pick and choose what I've seen work best for me, while adding homebrew for all the stuff I think the designers missed.

My game is set about the time of the Yuzong Vong invasion. But for deviations of plot from star wars canon I'm avoiding the whole mess and sticking to a Revived Empire, complete with Palpatine vs a still strong and millataristic New republic, Throw in a bunch of other factions and set them all up for war and you get the idea. It's primarily set on a big old mysterious space station presently, however that's just to get the characters motivated into one of many plots. Once they get their ship ready to go they are free to explore the gallaxy.

Movie Star wars or set in the Star Wars universe... at various points both... so Yes and yes, there is no saying you can't have at least a touch of gritty realism in a game that could span the gallaxy. Tough but not impossible to do, well I try anyway.

I consider Canon anything before my setting chronologically that fits with my own slightly twisted version of events. So about 95% of expanded Universe, without the Vong or some other sillyness. A lot of homebrew is also involved as we see multiple stellar empires present that are only hinted at/never really seen in the EU get a much fuller treatment (Old Sith Empire, a lost Mandalorian Empire, a ressurected Xim the Despot's Tion hegemony, The Empire of the Hand and several others)

The Jedi question is dealt with by making the other classes slightly more powerful via homebrew (more useful feats for soldiers to take, armor working better, encouraging skill use) and restricting the Jedi powers a tad more by requiring feats for many force skills as prerequisites. Also with a switched over VP to HP system using powers lowers your HP, so you have to play it smart as a jedi... they still have all the coolness from the movies, but aren't invincible.

My characters are a mish mash working togeather out of destiny/mutual interest/self defence in a hostile world. We have a Shadow Academy Dark Jedi, a Jedi from the Yavin 4 academy, a Bothan bohemian problemsolver scout, a Defel bountyhunter on the run, A famous Hapan millitary officer and a Tech-specialist/fringer.

Highlights so far have been the fight against a Sith Alchemist and his 3 creations (Sith enhanced mutant Ranats) that looked like a losing fight till the dark jedi tipped him into a cryogenic tank of chemicals. His failsafe almost blew up the party and the station, which led to a mederately exiting cut scene.

Anybody interested in seeing how exciting the game is... feel free to take a look at things so far. If interested in playing, well we're full up but may be accepting alternates. Drop me a PM if you have any questions.
(For reference it's 32 point buy lvl 10 starting)

What system are you using?
Star Wars Saga Edition

When is the game set? Where is it set?
Is it a "movie Star Wars" game, or one "set in the Star Wars universe"?
We are playing the Dawn of Defiance campaign so its set shortly after episode three, and is pretty much all over the place.

What is "canon"?
If we can find it on wookieepedia (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page), it is pretty much good.
So every now and them I go on, find a useless bit of trivia and have my Educated Twi'lek spout it off at a relevant time

How did you deal with the "Jedi question"?
We used to have two jedi in the party but both players were unable to continue so they dropped. We got a new one who is socially inclined and doesn't use the force very often as we think she is trying to lay low.
Oh and shortly after the first two left the wookie began to be trained as a jedi... >.>

Who are the characters?
Moko - Twi'lek Noble 5/Scoundrel 1/Jedi 1
My character. Took the Jedi level as I wanted more HP and it fitted with his background. Force sensitive, was trained in the temple but wasn't cut out for it, so left to pursue other goals.
Charisma is large and being a Twi'lek hit on pretty much every second female we run into.

Sebastian - Noble 5/Scoundrel 2
Techie. Pretty much sums him up. Socially withdrawn (Yet strangely is best mates with the rather out going Moko... A regular odd couple)

Lucy - Zabrak Soldier
Parties tank and damage dealer. Seems to be hit on by most the drunk male nobles... Running gag

Keira - Wookie Solider/Jedi
Parties other damage dealer and the local medic

And the two that left the part were:
Dob - Illithoiran Jensiri
??? - Kel Dor Jedi

And the character who joined us after they left:
Sasha - Human (Yes, we actually finally got one of these) Jedi/Noble/???

What have been the highlights so far?
Far to many... And none of them come to mind at the moment...
Somewhat annoying

Do you have a link to an Actual Play report, or wiki, or webpage on the game?
No as this is with a RL group (yeah, strange isn't it)

Anything else you want to tell us?
Yes. GO THE ALL BLACKS!!! Munster, well fought

I was in two games, currently on hold, but soon to pick up again hopefully. We'll call them A (i'm running) and B (my SW fanboy friend is running)

What system are you using?
SW: SAGA. So ungodly better than d20. Never played WEG, but I hear it's hard to beat, so i'll refrain from comparing SAGA to WEG. SAGA is incredibly balanced, the skill system work great for the setting, force powers are not a game killer, etc. I obviously really love this game. OH! The Force Unleashed and KotoR source books just came out. Can we say "happy."

When is the game set? Where is it set?
A - I'm not a SW guru so I didn't set the era. It's actually irrelevant. It's set on a Hoth-esque planet covered in snow and full of blizzards. I named it Schneve. Which is a bastardization of German and Italian for "snow".

B - Dawn of Defiance. So, all over the place.

Is it a "movie Star Wars" game, or one "set in the Star Wars universe"?
A - Universe. Absolutely nothing to do w/ or at all like the movies.

B - Both

What is "canon"?
A,B - Anything from movies and KotoR, no questions asked. If it's on wookiepedia, it's also usually considered canon.

How did you deal with the "Jedi question"?
A - Era is still Jedi friendly. In fact, it's more like the KotoR jedi.
B - Obviously, they're not very liked, so they try to remain hiddden.
Side note - some people may disagree, but Jedi in SAGA are much more balanced than d20. Having a Jedi in the party is extremely usefull, and he is capable of doing incredible things, but let's face it, thier Jedi. The difference, in my opinion, lies in thier mechanics. Someone can play a non-jedi and still affect the outcome of combat and noncombat encounters. I once made a H. Rifle specialized Mandalorian Soldier/Scout who would often out damage the jedi in a fight. Don't get me wrong, the Jedi looked badass deflecting and redirecting blaster bolts, throwing holonet terminals into bad guys, etc.; but that's what makes him a jedi.

Who are the characters?
A - Haven't played in a while so names are completely forgotten. but characters are:
Bothan Scout / Scoundrel on route to Crouscant to blow up embassy.
Wookie Soldier heading to Coruscant to bring godfather's (human) lighstaber to the Jedi Counsel.
Human Jedi that was apprenticed to the wookies godfather.

B - Dawn of Defiance
Mandalorian Soldier who's not happy with the direction of the empire. Interested in shaking things up a bit.
Human jedi in hiding.
Wookie Soldier (yes, the same player as A. He likes to hit things.)

What have been the highlights so far?
Way to numerous to count. See spoilers below.

Do you have a link to an Actual Play report, or wiki, or webpage on the game?
Regrettably no. Haven't played either game in a whle cuase the my wife just got pregnant, and the GM for game B's wife just gave birth. So, we might not get to play for a month or two.

Anything else you want to tell us?[/QUOTE]
See spoilers below.

I had a rather large post here about the game I was running, but I can't find it. So, here it goes:

Players open on a large transport ship heading to Coruscant. A small security team runs the ship but nothing major. The captian is well known for his generous hospitality towards all races and people in need. It's rumored he even let's people ride for free under extreme circumstances. Players are all in the commons room area (they have their smaller weapons, larger ones are in storage in the lower decks of ship) when the captian comes in and says they'll be making a stop on a snow covered moon. Apparently a transport ship has broken down there and they'll be helping. Right after the captian leaves, a large fight breaks out. Apparently an agent of the empire was attempting to escorting a dangerous crime lord back to coruscant when his goons and thugs slipped on board and are now trying to free him. Jedi attempts to help the pinned down security guards, Wookie continues drinking and Bothan begins insulting random criminals. Fight continues for 2-5 rounds when suddenly the entire ship jolts horribly. As if they've been hit by something. Captian, having no idea there is a fight going on, tells everyone over comm speaker that someone is attacking them and everyone should strap in. Players "you're f**king kidding me". All 3 jump to the aid of the last remaining security guard, who's wounded, and what I consider the best SW: SAGA combat encounter ever proceeds. While fighting several criminals, they were constantly making Acrobat checks to stay on their feet while the ship took heavy fire. After finally dispatching the last thug the Jedi stays to keep an eye on the crime lord while the Bothan and Wookie head to the cockpit to help. I've been secretly keeping track of the ship's condition track and it's in terrible shape. Both characters are also slightly low on the condidition track. They begin rolling mechanics and computer and pilot checks to re-route shields, restore power, increase tilt, etc. but because of the -x to skill checks from the condition tracks, it's not going good. They crash. It's beautiful. The wookie rolls a Acrobatics and Str check to grab on to a piece of durasteel at the last minute. The bothan isn't as lucky. He flies through the windshield (weakened by the crash) and lands 100 yards from the ship. At 0hp and -10 on condition track.

Next session:

While trying to gather survivors and supplies they realize the crime lord is gone. They are attempting to sort things out when they are suddenly attack by a small army of droids. My own design: the JP107 - Aerial Assault Droid, a jet pack wearing, missile launching, heavy blaster, droid. The HD1 - Heavy Combat Droid, a large droid with massive blades attached to each arm. And my personnal favorite, the J5 - Moblie Infantry Tactial Assault Droid, a triangular tread rolling, shoulder grenade launching, wrist plaster pistol firing, wrist flame throwing wearing Johnny 5 look-a-like. These guys were the ****. When pinned down, the would apply their brakes, and spin their treads in place burrowing down into the snow, making a 'bunker' of sorts and just fire grenades at the enemy. Awesome huh?

Anyway, long story short...they fought the small army and had to eventually found out it was a combat droid manufacturing plant and the central hub went all Matrix and decided to kill the engineers and mechanics take over the operation. The AI modified the plant to create these new droids and it's sending fake distress calls to get ships to land here so it can salvage parts and create a new ship from the peices.

We stopped after they learned the central plot from a series of journals and recorded holo-messages. They all want to finish it though, so we'll pick up later I'm sure.

I'm tired of typing, hope that answered your questions.

I want to play a Star Wars RPG, but I don't have the funds for the rulebook or the people needed to play. :smallfrown:

There wouldn't happen to be an SRD or (legal) online resource for the game, is there? I'd love to at least try my hand at one of the pbp games that spring up here so often...

Maybe I can talk a few friends into picking up the Saga edition and trying it out... >_>

What system are you using?

The only true one - the old D6 system of WEG. While the system sure has its drawbacks, I found it much, much better than the D20 version) simply because of the greater freedom for character creation of the classless system). I think that the quality decline from the original trilogy to the prequle was only slightly larger than the decline of the star wars RPGs between D6 and D20. We had some houserules, though.

When is the game set? Where is it set?

We played normally in the time after the origial trilogy or at least 50 years when all movie characters were dead. Since most cmapigns were constructed around a ship crew, 'where' was constantly changing. We tried to bind in some of the mentioned systems like Dantoine or Kessel, but rarely those planets where the movie plots took place.

Is it a "movie Star Wars" game, or one "set in the Star Wars universe"?

Our campaings were usually more similar to Firefly than to the original Star Wars movies. The characters were extraordinary individuals, but not nearly as bloated as the original cast.

What is "canon"?

We interpreted the movie as the in-universe equivalent to Eisenstein's Battlecruiser Potemkin and other propaganda movies. The Imperium was surely a trannic police state, but the Rebels were an allince of very different groups, from highly idealistic (and completely ineffective) political groups to outright terrorists with a favor for nerve gas attacks on civil population centres. In our games, the Rebellion and its successor of the New Republic was at least as bad as the Imperium and normally, our crews tried ro stay out of the conflict. If this was not possible, we normally sided with the Rebells, because they paid better for contraband.
We also largely ignored the expanded univerye because of the low quality standards of most of these books. Alone Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy found into our games (with the exception that Thrawn was too cool to lose and was able to unite a large part of the empiral remnats so that a balance of powers was established.
So, canon was what the group acknowledged as 'cool for the campaign'.

How did you deal with the "Jedi question"?
Jediism is only one of many ways to deal with the supernatural powers of some denizens of the universe who established a firm set of beliefs around their skills. Many other force users do not believe in the Jedi mythology but have similar powers at hand.
The Jedi Order is also an especially vicious, self-rightous death squadron of the New Republic.
Short to say, we never had a jedi in our campaigns but sometimes a force-user. At character creation, every character could gain a cool feature, like an own ship, cybertechnological implants or force sensitivity, which made it mostly balanced.

Who are the characters?
In the longest campaign we palyed a smuggler crew, in the other long campaign a platoon of stormtroopers. The last campaign was one of the best campaigns I ever played in.
The smuggler crew consisted of one former Rebel soldier who had spend several years in an Imperial detention camp, a Rodian pilot and navigator and former opera singer, the captain, a sometimes nice and friendly uncle guy, sometimes unscrupelous buisinessman, a former Twi'lek pleasure slave (who was also force sensitive) and a runaway assassin who deserted from the Imperial black ops.
Surprisingly, the stormtrooper platoon consisted almost completely out of stormtroopers.

What have been the highlights so far?

The platoon was involved in a heavy firefight with the goons of a local spice lord and had to retreat into an abbandoned building, where they were surrounded and waited for relief. Half of the troop was injured and only still alive because of their armor and two other characters (the advantage of playing a platoon is, that you can replace most characters immediately). Knowing that we would be get reinforcements soon, the goons attacked us quickly and we threw them back three times. In the last attack, only three troopers were still able to stand, and we had only seven shots left. In total, we killed more than sixty gunmen, and all survivors were awarded with the Imperial Star of Courage.

Do you have a link to an Actual Play report, or wiki, or webpage on the game?

There was a wiki once, but the link is defunct now. It wouldn't have helped you much either way, because most of it was in German.

Anything else you want to tell us?

Star Wars became fun in the moment we decided to treat the movies as cheap propaganda and refused to took them serious. Suddenly, a dull and infatile black and white morals tale turned into a fascinating and often very exotic background.

I'll answer this for all Star Wars games I'm involved in on this board! Whee!

What system are you using?

All Saga.

When is the game set? Where is it set?

Dawn of Defiance: "Dark Times" between III and IV. Setting changes.
The Undiscovered Country: KotOR, set during the Jedi Civil War. Setting is the Unknown Regions.
Tyranny of the Jedi: Alt-Universe KotOR, players move around a lot, not always in unison.
Restoration by Treason: Set a bit after the KotOR games, set on Manaan.
Jedi Ghost Story: Early Empire, set on the planet of Dretha, which is like Ryloth, only more uncomfortable.
Last, Best Hope: Alternate Rebellion Era, setting seems mobile.
Dawn of the Jedi: The Force Wars of Tython, 25,120 ABY.

Is it a "movie Star Wars" game, or one "set in the Star Wars universe"?

DoD: Strives for movie, doesn't quite make it.
Undiscovered: Set in.
Tyranny: Movie. Sort of.
Restoration: Set in.
Ghost Story: Set in.
L,BH: Movie.
DotJ: Fantasy setting that happens to have sci-fi elements.

What is "canon"?

DoD: Whatever the designers of the modules felt like. Which seems to be everything.
Undiscovered: Expanded KotOR
Tyranny: Alternate Universe KotOR: Revan convinced all the Jedi to go to war and ended up heading the council. Develops well-intentioned extremist tendencies along the way. Things go bad from there.
Restoration: KotOR.
Ghost Story: Seems mostly comprised of fanon so far.
LBH: Everything prior to halfway through Ep. III. After that stuff starts changing due to Anakin not falling.
DotJ: The Wookieepedia entry on the Force Wars, the Wookiepedia entry on Tython, all else is fanon.

How did you deal with the "Jedi question"?

DoD: Jedi are to be hunted. The one in our party has to keep it on the down-low, and has been doing a good job of it so far.
Undiscovered: All but one two in the party are Force Sensitive, though one doesn't consciously know it at the moment. Doesn't really matter, though, since nothing has come to (lethal) combat yet. Seems more exploration than anything else at the moment.
Tyranny: At first the Force users were uber because most of the party was unarmed. Now, fully armed and at level eight, the Gunslingers and Elite Troopers are going to start winning the day on damage output.
Restoration: Everyone who isn't a Force user is either in a support role or carries a rocket launcher.
Ghost Story: I don't think we have any Force Sensitives. Not that balance matters, since it's basically a non-combat game.
LBH: Set at high enough level the damage output is basically equal. Really, the most uber member of the party is Rissa, but that's because she has an astronomically high Pilot skill and a Prototype X-Wing.
DotJ: Everyone is a Force user, and they're supposed to feel special.

Who are the characters?

DoD: Simon Tam with somewhat better marksmanship, his kid teen Jedi sidekick friend who he doctored back to health after Order 66, a clone who keeps trying to figure out Irian's Jediness, probably to blackmail and/or kill him, a Force-sensitive bounty hunter guy, and a droid who hasn't been introduced yet but will be replacing the Duros who didn't do anything.
Undiscovered: A war-weary ex-Jedi, the comparatively chipper padawan who has medical training, the Jedi who would be war-weary and embittered if he wasn't repressing all memories of what happened to him during the Mandalorian Wars, the completely-not-a Jedi Mon Calamari who helped design our ship and cringes to think about how it's crewed by idiots, and the primitive Twi'lek who doesn't know Basic we found on a Rakatan ghost ship.
Tyranny: Three Mandalorians, one of whom just became Mandalore; two Jedi, one of whom just fell to the Dark Side; one Sith, who lies a lot; one ex-Krath, who is working towards redemption and serving in the mysterious-old-lady capacity in meanwhile; one ordinary soldier, who has much reason to wish he was traveling with a saner group of people; and a Wookiee martial artist who has no characterization whatsoever.
Restoration: One paranoid obsessively neutral Selkath, one droid who is the very model of a modern major general, one soldier who fights with a rocket launcher OF JUSTICE!, and a poor padawan who has to keep track of them all.
Ghost Story: A very religious Trandoshan, a good-hearted Imperial officer stuck in a really bad job, and I'm not sure who the others are yet.
LBH: A Mon Cal with a nice ship, a Quarren who's a test pilot for Incom, a droid who hates being called "Cutie," a Khil who used to work riot control, a human female spy, and an ex-Imperial Dark Jedi who wants to take the "Dark" out of there.
DotJ: Hasn't left the character generation stage yet.

What have been the highlights so far?

DoD: We had a hilarious run of bad luck at the very beginning that almost saw the party killed at the hands of four minor opponents.
Undiscovered: My character threw a stun grenade at the Jedi GMPC, managing to harm absolutely no one in the process, but has obtained a reputation for being reckless and unreliable anyway.
Tyranny: The party has broken out of prison with the help and hindrance of an uber-nerd slicer, talked Bastila Shan out of attacking her ex-husband Revan with a fleet of warships (because an armada of warships would be more effective), determined that Canderous Ordo had been replaced by a shapeshifting impostor and replaced him with a new (PC) Mandalore, been tempted by Freedon Nadd, and has allowed the Sith character to convince the pure Jedi to cut off the fallen Jedi's hand while he's unconscious. That all almost makes sense if you read the whole thing.
Restoration: We all got into a protracted argument about the virtues of neutrality.
Ghost Story: My 7 Cha Trandoshan hunter has been tasked with attempting to talk the rest of the party into taking the main plot hook.
LBH: Not much so far.
DotJ: Hasn't started.

Anything else you want to tell us?

I'm addicted to this game system.

What system are you using?

SAGA, with a standard - for my crew - level of homebrewing

When is the game set? Where is it set?

Current campaign is in the Legacy era, during the "missing years" between the fall of the Empire and the current conflict. We're pretty much everywhere.

Is it a "movie Star Wars" game, or one "set in the Star Wars universe"?

Universe, sort of.

What is "canon"?

We also use the propaganda element, so everything can be either considered as canon but reflavored, sensationalist journalism, or outright fabrication used to control the populace.

How did you deal with the "Jedi question"?

The Jedi are evil in this campaign - at least the leadership is; the average Jedi Joe is just misled by the Jedi training programs - but present their propaganda as serving in the best interests of all. Only a few Jedi realize the truth, and some of these may join the crew.

Imperial Knights are free from Jedi brainwashing, but are not knowledgeable as to the Empire's leaders true actions. The Sith acted in retaliation to Imperial aggression - provoked to action by the Jedi - and rather than a campaign of subjugation was a liberation, opposed by an Imperial fifth column and guerrillas. Sith do not pretend to be the galaxy's saviors, but act as free agents, able to do as they will, guided by forbidden knowledge of the Force (the truth).

The dark side is a Jedi fabrication to enforce cooperation with Jedi authority. Any who explore a life away from the Jedi Order and its rules can be declared as "fallen" and removed without the populace being upset.

Who are the characters?

A crew of mercenaries:
Human Imperial Knight (female) - Although she has learned that the Empire were the aggressors, she has lost friends to the Sith and her sympathies remain divided.

Togruta Scout (male) - a Ranger-type who was raised along the Yuuzhan Vong and uses their biotechnology extensively.

Zabrak Mandalorian warrior (female) - Armor makes her look like Samus Aran (arm cannon and all), fights for glory and power. Morality, not so much.

Massassi freedom fighter( male) - Wishes to show the galaxy that the Sith are not the murderous monsters they are portrayed to be, and attempts to thwart the Emperor in hiding as much as possible.

Trandoshan noble (female) - part of a merchant house that was framed by the Empire as Sith-collaborators and destroyed. Trying to rebuild the merchant house, and if things change, expose the Empire.

Miralouka ex-Jedi (male) - Still has comrades in the Order, but cannot remain a Jedi after learning about the "obey or die" tactics that have been used. Declared a traitor and dark-side user by the Order.

What have been the highlights so far?

Starting the mercenary unit, first relying on outside transportation, then acquiring own ship after being betrayed to the Jedi. Jedi are actively hunting the group.

Trying to contact the princess who they have reason to believe is not knowledgeable of her father's actions and could stop the war from restarting.

Mercenary contracts to pay the bills.

Do you have a link to an Actual Play report, or wiki, or webpage on the game?

Nope. All the better to tease others into playing, really.

Well, I wanted to do this for my games in this forum, but Ascension beat me to it  So, I'll just answer for my very first Star Wars Game...^^

What system are you using?

It was Star Wars D6. It was a long time ago (after Episode I came out).

When is the game set? Where is it set?

Generic movie era, sometime around Episode IV.

Also where in the known galaxy are events taking place? Just one location or do you travel around a lot?

The game didn't live very long, so we did not get to travel much.

Is it a "movie Star Wars" game, or one "set in the Star Wars universe"?

Set in.

What is "canon"?

The original movies, IIRC.

Have you made any major changes to the setting?

No.

How did you deal with the "Jedi question"?

By forbidding them (the GM allowed ONE Jedi, and that was a failed one who spent most of the time drunk).

Who are the characters?

I was playing a Senator on the run from the Empire, then we had a failed human Jedi with a serious drinking problem, a female Twi'lek smuggler and a Han Solo type.

What have been the highlights so far?

I wouldn't call it a highlight, but certainly the most memorable thing was that EVERYBODY couldn't stop teasing my character about her very special hair dryer (too much Spaceballs will do that to a person).

Do you have a link to an Actual Play report, or wiki, or webpage on the game?

No. It was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away^^.

Anything else you want to tell us?

Saga rocks, I've fallen head over heels for that game.

As a result of starting this thread elsewhere, I've been invited to this game:

I'll bite. This, briefly, is the answers for "Legacy of Ruin", my new Star Wars game which has just had it's second session.

Speaking of which, Kiero, see the end of this post.

System: D20 Saga ed. I started back with WEG 2nd ed but in truth never played it very much. The first version of d20 Star Wars made for a couple of one-offs. This is my first go at running a proper campaign, and I find that I like the Saga version more than the alternatives when it comes down to it. I especially like the way that the ship system is the same as the person system, only differing in scale units - Dogfights being Grapples is especially inspired.

When / Where: The Legacy Era (as in the Cade Skywalker comics), in the region of the Cron Drift gradually moving spinwards towards Gyndyne. I love the Legacy setting - the comics reenergised my love for the universe after I gave up on the novels with "Traitor". I am especially fond of the kitchen-sink feel of it - this is Star Wars by the Exalted method, where pretty much any ancient faction from the setting's history has some kind of presence and some kind of plan for taking over the galaxy, from Mandalorians, Sith, a New Empire, the remnants of the Galactic Alliance, the refugee Jedi...

...And I love Imperial Knights. It's the armour.

Movie / Universe: Movie. I am a firm believer in doors that open so fast you don't see them, 100 mile-per-hour lifts, fights along moving walkways and asteroid belts that defy physics. My Star Wars has no handrails.

Canon: Whatever's cool. Following the Legacy setting's lead, I pick up anything I find on wookipedia and stick it in regardless of era considerations. The comics managed to redeem the use of the Youuzhon Vhong as part of the setting (if you haven't read it, they're used as fall guys by the new sith as prelude to the Empire resurging - the Vhong get blamed for a Sith terrorist attack because, well, they're the freaky-looking guys who attacked last time!). I don't think I can quite top Legacy's use of old Marvel comics races as main characters, but I do have a plotline coming up set on one of the planets from "Droids".

Jedi Question: They're relatively balanced in Saga. I haven't noticed any problems in two sessions, other than the fact that until they get all those talents that let them use Use the Force instead of X skill, they're pretty weak. Plus, our Jedi self-balances herself by playing a complete social introvert where a large part of the game is based around witty banter, taunting one's foes at parties and sneaking around.

Who are the Characters: Legacy of Ruin is kind of like "The Thomas Crown Affair" in the Star Wars Universe. There's a big military shipbuilder, see, which is taking over lots of smaller concerns as part of their dealings with the Empire (and probably - read definately since this is SW - the Sith Order). One of those concerns is a mining fleet in the Cron Drift, presided over by the family of one of our characters. He acts like a swimming-in-credits playboy in public and when at the family's capital ship, but he's actually a pirate/privateer who targets the hostile would-be-takeover.

The other character's a Jedi Padawan who lost contact with the order when the Sith attacked the monestary on Ossus and never got the location of the hidden Temple from her master before he died. She's looking for other Jedi, and is on the trail of one who, as far as she can tell, vanished after boarding one of evil shipbuilding corp's ships.

The campaign started when they both broke in to the bad guy's spacestation at the same time, both looking to steal shipping data.

NPCs are the Aleena ship's engineer and the independent protocol droid/butler/pastry chef/bodyguard

Highlights: Running away from that space station (a daring escape involving ventilation shafts, grappling hooks, moving lifts and the Jedi Mind trick).

Link: This post is kind of an advert, really - we play Lthis every other week, and my Actual Play thread for Mage (which we play on the other weeks) is now up to the point that Star Wars started. So I'm probably going to do the thread for it, too.

And as for the last note - Kiero - this game's players are both in your WFRP game. Are you free on alternate Tuesday evenings? Because if you are, you're welcome to play.

I'm going to play Coll/Milo Arranda (not decided on a first name yet), a semi-Jedi-trained explorer.

What system are you using?

A homebrew 2d4 system of my own design. Mechanics-wise it's probably closer to FUDGE than any other game.

When is the game set? Where is it set?

The KOTOR era, in 3900 BBY. The players started on Tatooine, and revisited it several times for various reasons, but they planet-hop wherever they're needed.

Is it a "movie Star Wars" game, or one "set in the Star Wars universe"?

Eh, it's fairly 'movie'. No-one's shaking the galaxy but the players are starting to build up a reputation.

What is "canon"?

I prefer to stick to established EU canon when it comes to non-character elements, with a little bending of the rules if an element from a different time-frame would make a cool addition. The time-frame I've set the game in is a 'dead-zone' in the canon, so I'm free to have new people rise to prominence in the setting without wondering why no-one remembers them later.

The only times I've really had to cut things from the canon is when it comes to Force powers; cheesy stuff like Emerald Judgement simply isn't possible in my games.

How did you deal with the "Jedi question"?

Both the players are Force-users, though that's through choice rather than a desire for parity. If a non-Jedi did feel he was getting overshadowed it would be easy to increase the presence of Jedi-hunters and make them more cautious in the use of their powers.

Who are the characters?

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e356/TamerBill/Brigan_Sprite.png
Brigan, a human dark-side adept who is unknowingly being groomed to take the place of the Dark Lord's apprentice. A very stealthy fellow and the leader of the pair, Brigan is always on the look-out for powerful artifacts.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e356/TamerBill/Alia_Sprite.png
Alia Tahn, a young Togruta girl who Brigan takes under his wing. Formerly a Jedi Sentinel she has recently begun taking after Brigan in the use of the dark side. With her heightened awareness and precognitive skills she is usually the first one to point out dangers (as opposed to Brigan, who is the first one into dangers).

What have been the highlights so far?

DM: The sandcrawler you're hitching a lift on comes to a steady stop. Looking out the viewport you see a gaggle of Jawas running out to examine a strange structure nearby; it's an odd metal tower crackling with blue energy.
Brigan: I disembark and go take a look as well.
DM: Once out on the sand you can see another, identical structure on the other side of the sandcrawler.
Brigan: I go and talk to the Jawas, see if they know anything about it.
DM: Before you can learn anything of note both towers start humming violently, and the blue energy increases in intensity until it's almost too bright to look at. The Jawas scatter in all directions.
Brigan: I head back to the sandcrawler.
DM: The one in between the two crazy towers?
Brigan: Yep.
DM: ...you're going back, then?
Brigan: I'll be safe back there.

...and that's the story of how Brigan nearly got killed by an experimental flash-freeze weapon.

Hmmm... not quite on topic, but...

I am planning a future tech 4E adventure, but I have got no clue at all about how to handle... well, anything, really. Don't know what to do, but this thread gave some advice. I'm not going to change the system cause that would just be too much trouble. But I don't know...

Why would changing the system, for a game that doesn't sound like it's even begun, be "too much trouble"? Surely it's easier to use something that works, and already does the job, than kit-bashing 4E to do something it really hasn't been designed to do.

My first session in the Legacy game is on Tuesday, pretty jazzed about it!
