Hello to the GitP forum. I was toying with this idea for a while and I have finally decided to post it.

Basicly, the idea of this event is to create an MS Paint version of your current avatar.

Oh yeah. And you have to make the avatar yourself.

EDIT: Date updated.

Hows this date?

Fun as that would be, that is Baby week. Try to get the idea rolling first, then set the dates.

Well, considering MOST of my avatars have been made in Paint (including the following) I think I should be set. :smalltongue:

Yeah, its nothing really different. Paint works very well as an avataring tool if you know what your doing, so for all extensive purposes, its the same. Unless you mean that everyone has to draw their own in paint, no one being allowed to ask for normal avatarists to do it, but then for me its still the same.

There's a tutourial in Arts and Crafts on how to do avatars in paint, no? I should be fine, right up until it needs to be resized.

...

Would using my tablet be cheating? :smalltongue:

That'd be your problem. I'm pretty sure you can't use Paint on Apples. Or maybe you can, I think I may have heard of it happening.

Why would anyone do that? Such a delicious looking apple, ruined....
And besides. That's obviously ink, not paint. So THERE. :smalltongue:

Back to seriousness: bloody Windows and its horrible pre-installed programs. Why even use it in the first place ?

A) It's convinient, and there are actualy people who it works for. My friend drew this (http://tyori.deviantart.com/art/MoonCalled-WhiteRose-70131274) for me in Paint. So THERE.
B) Because Windows > Apple. :smallamused:

That would be because you're using a mac. If you use it in conjunction with Windows XP it shouldn't be a problem

B) Because Windows > Apple.

This is a pretty good idea. However, I already have a Paint avvy!
Also, just because you're using Paint doesn't mean you have to make it look bad; there's no transparent background on Paint, but you can just fill in the background color.

That is, well... not that good. I think THIS (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v689/LHSMasterP/ArmandSmall.png) was my first real attempt at an avatar, and wasn't actually as bad as it could have been.

My Paint-atar for Paint Week is ready now, so we just need to figure out the date. I don't know the background color to use yet, though, so it's just got a white background for now. (I did cheat a little, though - I resized the avatar in Inkscape so it wouldn't look QUITE as bad...)

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd40/rtg0922/KruggPaintatar.png

I'd suggest the first full week of January if we're going to move it - people'll probably want their Christmas avatars us before the 21st or 22nd, and the week after they might have New Year's avatars. Just a suggestion, though.

Paint is the one program I hate because it's to simple. More than half the time I was doing inkscape commands expecting nodes, and layers, and shading. Curse you simple paint!:smallmad:

How do you resize things in Inkscape? It won't even let you paste the stuff. :smallconfused:

when you export it you can change the width and height of it, and it keeps it to scale which is very helpful. It should be able to let you past. I copy and past constantly:smallconfused:

^This, basically.

Draw it in Paint, save it as a .PNG file, and then open Inkscape. Go to "Import" and import the PNG. After that, I like to draw a perfect square around the whole of the picture, then make the square all transparent (fill and stroke), highlight the square, and then extract the bitmap that way, using the extract screen to change the size to 120x120.
