I feel like I have to go out and buy better dice, but no store anywhere near me sells anything other than the cheap crap (and I live in Ottawa, not some tiny village)!

You didn't post Part 2...

I've been keeping an eye on the site that sells his dice... but they are all sold out atm, I'm going to buy a set for my entire DnD group

This site doesn't seem to be all sold out (http://www.gamestation.net/category/6839420621/1/Precision.htm), and these are his dice (http://www.gamescience.com/home)

This is this guy's pet peive isn't it? He keeps nearly shouting.

Interesting though.

...Well, he has kinda devoted his life to the subject, but yeah.

It should be noted that the second link (game science) seems to have the dice for far cheaper than the first (game station).

...Well, he has kinda devoted his life to the subject, but yeah.I think it is more the fact that he considers himself a craftsman being undercut by cheap imports. He may be right, problem is that with the added cost of importing, this guy is out of my reach financially.

...doest it really matter? If I truly cared that much about getting real statistic randomness I wouldn't use a physical dice anyway. I would use a needlessly complicated Shrödinger's cat-like setup.

Or, say, a computer program? :smallamused:

Computer programs aren't truly random. But they are good enough for me, as are cheap Taiwanese dice. So yeah, I would use a computer program for it, but the point is that the guy in the video talked about how only he makes dice that are truly random, and that making that statement is incorrect.

If his statements are correct, that the dice are prejudiced towards the "equator" then this just narrows the distribution curve, making the extreme results less likely. This is not so bad, whereas the opposite would be a nightmare.

That depends. I have nothing against players having dice they know tend to roll higher or lower, since to me roleplaying isn't supposed to be random anyway. I don't care about the "game" aspect. It's about telling a story and enjoying a bit of escapism in the process, not about who can kill the most goblins per round.

I now want to own three d20's; a completely random one, a 8-12 one, and a 20-1 one.

And only you will know which is which!

In that case, I would humbly suggest that, for example, Amber may suit your needs better than games invoking frequent dice rolls.

I do prefer RPGs closer to freeform.

I have a friend with two sets of fireball dice. One to hand the DM, one to roll.

He always tells after they roll though, but it is funny seeing 10D6 average ~20
