I will be doing this LP with as much audience participation as I can. And I even have the first vote up for grabs. Lets decide on Ramza's(nope, his name isn't changing :smalltongue:) zodiac sign. His birthday will be random so we cut down on the massive quantity of options.

This is my first LP, so expect it to go a bit slower than normal LPs. In my next post(which will cover the beginning and stop at the flashback) I will request names/signs/classes from the audience at large, so be thinking if you want to have a generic of your own in the game! (Also: Please don't go into a long, detailed description of your class, just name the basic class and the class you'd like to stop as. e.g. Squire->Knight->Monk->Geomancer.)

EDIT: I'll probably cut down on the ZOMGMASSIVE PNGs for the LP proper.

Why? I ran into one on the enemy's side when I played it. For some reason, If I have ever played a game that let you, I would give a female magic-user that name, especially if she can use Ice spells.

There's compatibilities with the signs that allow you to do better or worse damage against someone with whom you have good compatibility. That's about all I know, though.

For me: Male, low brave, high faith, random sign, Chemist->Priest->Wizard->Oracle->Time Mage->Mediator->Summoner->Bard

Dancers are ok, but bards are where it's at, yo. Get throw item, phoenix down, and auto-potion from Chemist and put those on him as a bard.

Some signs trump other signs. Each sign has 1 sign that it deals Double damage to all the time. It also has 3 signs that it deals approximately +25% damage to, and then 1 sign it deals -50% damage to.

Yes, and I believe now is a good place to stop recruitment until someone dies. Otherwise, I'll be alternating between audience generics as often as possible using the list I've compiled below.

Isn't that one of the thing affected by faith? I seem to recall having a pretty high percentage chance since I just maxed out faith on all my casters.

I believe so, though I have never had higher than 80% on a Raise 1.

In other news.. I have found a fan-made patch that increases the overall difficulty of FFT's story-line missions and adds a few new things(like squires can use crossbows), so I'm putting it up for a vote on whether I should use the new patch or not.

Personally, after having played through Chapter 1 on the patch, I think it would definitely make things a bit more exciting.

Since I haven't played FFT, if you think the patch will make things more interesting and exciting, then sure, go for it!

No, if you're going to add pointless difficulty, do an SCC. This is main game. Besides, with this motley group, it's going to be hard enough.

I vote against the patch - as long as you steer clear of using broken story characters (yes I'm looking at you Orlandu and Reis), the difficulty should be fine. Besides if it's the patch I think I once saw the changes in it looked way to extensive for my liking :smalltongue:

The thing is, all those are based on variables. The highest faith or brave you can roll for a new character is like 75, and we can't guarantee zeronumerous will take the time to min/max those stats for us. Phoenix downs, however, always have a 100% success rate, which is why I liked them so much.

I vote for the HArd Mode Patch. Its pretty fantastic.

I will not be arbitrarily perma-raise/lower Faith/Brave via Mediator, but I will try to get at very least 65/60(or 60/65)+ for each board-member.

Actually, that's a good point. Not because the storyline is 'hard' when you play smart (If you REALLY want a cheesy Wiegraf kill, you equip a Holy Robe, Feather Boots, and laugh maniacally), but because we're not. Most folks will be like "Do what's cool!" Changing my vote.

As I'm playing it on an emulator(due in no small part to my fried PS2), I can apply a patch to an .ISO. Specifically, it's the v1.3 patch from Final Fantasy Hacktics. It breaks up all the "I Win" tactics like Switch MP and Move MP Up(which are now Bard/Dancer abilities respectively) and Blade Grasp("Can't Touch This") for PCs. It also makes storyline battles scale to the party's level, so you can't just powerlevel and blow through the storyline.

Fight cheesiness spoilered due to paranoia:
That'd be the trick. You yell until you have 50 speed, relying on auto-potion and x-potions to keep your health up through wiegraf's rather insane holy swords during the interval. At the end, you can go something like 6 times to wiegraf's one. The best part? You keep the speed into the next fight, so you can again go like 6 times to the demons' one and beat the boss fight before the boss can even move. :smalltongue: Too bad you can't keep it through to the roof fight.

The storyline part seems to be the only part of the patch I like. Well, not the only part, because I don't know if it also took out the level up/level down cheese that I felt was a bit too much. Blade grasp could at least be gotten around in most fights, either through various sword skills or magic attacks, and I don't know the move mp up/switch mp cheese so I can't comment. But as for storyline fights? That part always annoyed me.

Telling Algus to screw off gets a permanent +2 Brave boost at the end of Fort Zeakdon once Algus finishes his "I'm a jerk and you're just like me" speech.

Saving Algus nets a +2 Brave boost throughout chapter 1, but you take a -2 Brave penalty at Fort Zeakdon because Algus does his "You only saved me to use me" speech.

End Result: Being a jerk makes you Braver(ier?) in the long run.

Because attacking my allies in combat is something I'd expect from Algus. But the main reason is that, as guests they're a drain on my resources anyway so there is little to no reason not to allow them to contribute.

On the story chars versus randoms: I usually kept 2-3 random chars around, because by the time I got to replacing them, they were all decked out with their best skillsets and at least two mastered jobs. But some of the story chars are just too good to pass up, like Beowulf and his zomgamazing sword techs, or Mustadio and his snipes (perfect synergy with a chemist, he's why I love them so much) Then there are the broken ones, like taking Orlandu alone into a fight against 7 or more random monsters and having him wipe the floor with them. :smallbiggrin: Anyway, yeah, some are just too awesome to pass up. I hear Cloud makes a good one, too, but I never had the patience to level him. Same with Reis.

I remember taking Orlandu in a party against five ninjas in a random encounter. These ninjas, being ninjas, horribly raped everybody but Orlandu with their dual-wielding attacks.

Orlandu turned the fight around single-handedly using the Night Sword attack (the one that stole enemy HP). A single attack was enough to sap one ninja's entire HP away. Meaning that not only could Orlandu kill with ease, he was effectively invulnerable in the fight.

And this brings up my first serious beef with FFT. Namely the question of.. "Where the heck does Ramza come from?" Alma is his Full-Sister, but looks nothing like Ramza. Dycedarg and Zalbag are his Half-Brothers and look alike, so you'd expect Alma to have Ramza's bleach blond hair. Yet, Alma is rocking dirty-blond hair while everyone else has Strawberry Blonde hair. Then in comes Ramza who looks like he fell in a vat of bleach. So either Ramza bleaches his hair artificially or his mother isn't Alma's mother.

Super Spoilers. Don't Read This If You Haven't Played The Game Before!

He assaulted a Princess, starved her, and psychologically torture her into doing his bidding. He directs his best friend into life-or-death situations against his own lord's men. Incidently, if Ramza died he'd have been able to take credit for leading Ramza to his death. Conversely, if Ramza had succeeded then Delita could have retained Ramza as an asset. He also kills an innocent man to cover the "death" of Thunder God Cid.

Finally, Delita 'captures' one of his own co-conspirators and executes him in front of Prince Goltana and then weakens Goltana's inner circle by executing a presumably falsely accused advisor. Why does he do this? So he can gain favor with Prince Goltana to eventually betray him. And when he does betray Goltana he stabs him as the fat noble tries to run away.

In the PSP remake Delita is more of a hero, but I'll be damned if the story was intended to make him out to be one.

EDIT: Incidently, this is why Delita's portrait faces opposite from the others. And because I was too lazy to screencap him a new one.

Also, at the end, don't we find out that he didn't actually kill her? I could swear Balmafula was the one you're talking about, and she makes an appearance with Delita at Ramza's grave.

Yet more story spoilers.

I never discussed Balmafula. Though in the appearance at Ramza/Alma's grave, she does not speak and only points in Ramza's direction. That implies that she's unable to speak, but your mileage may vary.

A few of the more damning moments of Delita's planning:

Balmafula: You're letting him go?
Delita: I know what he'll do.
Balmafula: You even use your friends.
Delita: Shut up! What do you know?
Balmafula: I hate people like you.

Delita: You understand, your death won't be waste.

Delita's description in Chapter 4:

Essentially, everyone who doesn't join Ramza is more or less evil. It's just a varying degree of evil. Delita's certainly the lesser of the multitudes of evil, but he is no hero.

As I said last time you suggested the lowest faith possible, I would not be min-maxing that much because it takes a long time. Just getting Brave over 65 took around 30-35 rerolls. But, if you don't like it I can take you off.

..I don't understand the question? If you mean "included" as in "used in combat", then I've used all of them and plan to use them as many as possible. If you mean "included" as in "created" then I believe my screencaps speak for themselves and I intend to create more as I get more money.
