Is the Oracle's "And as for the elf-" in comic 567 when attempting to convince Belkar that the prophecy was fulfulled significant? It seems like it's implying that V will die, and Belkar will directly or indirectly be the cause.

You know, you don't have to put it in spoilers if it's in the comic...but this is the same Oracle who was trying to convinve Belakr he was indirectly involved with Miko's death and that of Windstriker (that last one involved redefining the word death).

If we're going to be that indirect, then Belkar has already "caused" V's death by not responding to the animal messenger and doing...whatever...to prevent...whatever...from happening to V. V could even die a couple of centuries from now due to events that Belkar could have, theoretically prevented. So...whatever the Oracle was about to say seems to imply that V is going to make some deals that come to bite him/her in the elven butt later on...that's already foreshadowed by Qarr chasing after V.

Well, considering how far-fetched his other explanations were, it's not likely. He knew he was referring to himself.

Oh, with that Windstriker thing in mind...

Belkar caused V's death by selling his/her soul to a devil to find them, so now V's soul will be removed from his/her body, making him/her dead inside.

Simple. V's mad quest for power will cause hir death. One of the factors toward V's mad quest for power is that (s)he blames hirself for not having the power to save Haley. V says that (s)he should have been trying to attain more PHENOMINAL COSMIC POWAH! instead of wasting [hir] time on... juvenile pranks with a sociopathic halfling (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0504.html)

Therefore, in a convoluted, roundabout, and totally not-satisfying-to-Belkar way, Belkar has caused the death of V.

And lets not forget how Belkar caused the death of the oracle by forcing the oracle to come up with major stretch solutions to how Belkar's prophecy came true, thus making the oracle doubt his own power, become an alcoholic, and become dead inside.

And then Belkar stabbed him...

there is allready a thread about this

Several threads actually.

However, the apparent explanation of the remark is...

Oracle mention Belkar caused the death of Roy
-sharp practice, but correct.
Oracle claimed Belkar caused the death of Miko
-a case serious enough to have to listen to before rejecting it as faulty.
Oracle claimed Belkar caused the death of Miko's mouth.
-a claim we hardly pay attention to before we reject it.
Oracle starts to mention the elf
-We have a trend line that shows less and less validity to the argument. So the relationship between V's death and Belkar was going to be absurdly weak.

For story purposes, there is effectively no relationship. Indeed, we can argue the reverse. On the basis of this prophecy, any prediction that involves V being killed directly or indirectly by Belkar should be rejected.

Belkar has clearly gotten ahead of Miko.
