Nestled amoung the streets an odd sight catches your eye. A permanent image serves as a sign outside what you assume to be a tavern. It features a glowing wagging tail and glimmering letters that spell out the establishment’s name – Fox Tail Lounge. Loud music streams out of the door, where a long line of elves, gnomes and other eager folks wait to be allowed admittance. A large half-orc stands at the portal with a clipboard and a scowl on his face. He notices you as he pulls aside the door, allowing a group of nymphs to pass.

He looks up, and in a gruff voice he says “You’re late.”

He moves a rope aside, and gestures for you to step inside. You can feel the jealous burn from the eyes of the various humanoids left in the queue as you step into the smoke-filled lounge.

Description:

The Fox Tail Lounge is a bastion of modern conveniences and hip decoration. The outside looks like any other stone building, save for the glowing sign that is the Tavern’s trademark. The door is always staffed by a tough-looking guard, controlling admittance to the popular establishment.

Inside, glass blocks reflect the torchlight into strange patterns. All around instead of the hard benches found at most joints sit large cushions for guests to sprawl on. An odd decoration hangs from the ceiling, a Mithral Shield of Reflecting that has been fashioned into a sphere. The rope that supports it is highly twisted, causing the sphere to turn slowly. Strangest of all, the serving girls have been fitted with wheeled boots – a convenience that Gwendl’fox, the pixie proprietor, claims speeds up service 3 fold. Each serving girl also wears a fox’s tail as part of their costume – Gwendl’fox believes in branding her establishment.

At the far end of the smoky lounge is a stage Only the latest and hippest performing groups are allowed to play the lounge. Recently, it has featured such hits as Velvet Flail and The Turning Rocks. The loud music can be heard well outside the establishment, and serves as one of the biggest draws. Save for the drinks, of course.

Signature drink:

The Mhar’tini is a drink invented by Gwendl’fox, a proprietary mix of various spirits. Each Mhar’tini comes with a beholder eye at the bottom, a slight touch of the macabre that makes the drink truly unique. Gwendl’fox takes pride in mixing the Mhar’tini to each customer’s desire (shaken OR stirred), and will flavor it to almost anything imaginable. Some examples include:

Troglodyte Spit Mhar’tini: With mint and absinthe
Griffon Feather Mhar’tini: With flakes of real gold and a single feather donated from a Griffon.
Red Dragon Mhar’tini: With cinnamon. This drink is lit on fire when served to you!
Vorpal Mhar'tini: Triple the spirits. roll a d20 when drinking. On a natural 1, you are knocked unconcious for 1 hour.
Mhar'tini of Vecna: No one knows what this drink tastes like, because no one has ever ordered it.

Proprietor: Gwndl’fox (Pixie Bard 3)

Gwndl’fox may be small of stature, but she is big in the world of business. Beneath a comically large hat, a deceptively child-like face peers out from below the brim. She can be found in the very midst of her club, barking out orders to the roller girls in a voice that borders on squeaky. Her girls love her, though. The pay is good and the atmosphere shiny. For Gwendl’fox, her girls are like a family... a family that makes her a lot of money. Her decidedly un-pixie like sense of business coupled with her decidedly pixie-like ability to manipulate people makes her a savvy owner, and a rich pixie indeed.

Her ability to manipulate people isn’t the only pixie ability that makes her successful. She uses her permanent image ability to create decorations for the tavern, such as the strange sign that stands outside and the pools of light that float around the seating area. If the party isn’t hopping she will use her irresistible dance ability to set some toes tapping. Of course, this angers people sometimes, but Gwendl’fox laughs it off as a big joke.

Background and History:

Gwndl’fox wasn’t always a commercialist. She was once a run-of-the-mill pixie, playing pranks on humanoid passers by and generally having a good time whenever she could. She laughed and played with her Fey friends in the Briarthorn woods.

It was a dark day when the evil outsiders first started arriving, cutting their way through the forest and generally making a huge mess of things. The fey tried to fight back, but the outsiders carried with them weapons made of a metal that caused the creatures great pain. Their charms were useless, and all seemed lost.

Then Gwendl’fox had an idea. She noticed that those humanoids who possessed the ability to sway people’s emotions the best made the best musicians, the best artists, the best businesses. She wanted to combine all of that together into a money-making venture... and with her ability, she believed she could do it better then any humanoid. So she built the Fox Tail Lounge.

The profit from the lounge goes into a fund to run a group of Druids and Rangers called the Feysingers, a group of personal protectors for her vast home forest. They, being much more equipped to fight this sort of enemy, hold the evil outsiders at bay. She would never tell anyone this, though. She finds it far easier to get what she wants from people by seeming as carefree as possible.

Plot hooks:

The Fox Tail lounge has run out of beholder eyeballs for its signature drink. The party is hired to collect as many as they can.

Someone has been systematically dispelling Gwndl’fox’s images! She has to keep recasting them, and it’s beginning to bum her out. Can the party find the person (or persons) responsible? Is it the rival lounge across the street? An ex boyfriend? A human annoyed at Gwendl’s past pranks?

Gwendl’fox got a mysterious note from a Dryad friend. She believes the wood sprit is in dreadful danger, and needs the hero’s help! Problem is, she’s the one running off to adventure in the Briarthorn woods on a rescue mission and asks the PCs if they can run the lounge for a few days. Gruff customers, a clumsy cook, and an injured roller girl to boot… can the party make it through the night?

Valanthi, one of the roller girls, asks the party for help. She will use all of her feminine wiles to get the party to help her perform a series of Herculean tasks. How will the party members react to this comely newcomer, especially those in the party more resistant to her charming charm

After a severe misunderstanding one evening, the party is not allowed back into the lounge. That's when they discover a vital bit of equipment missing! What's the best way to sneak into the popular (and well-guarded) club?

Things in the Briarthorn have gotten quiet. Too quiet. Druid scouts report that the evil outsiders are planning something, and will soon come down on the Fey with a force heretofore unknown. Gwendl’fox hears of this and comes to the party in tears, requesting whatever help they can provide.

Seems interesting so far, although there isn't much yet, but I just thought I'd point out that I think you mean lounge, not launge. As far as I know, launge isn't a word. Anyway, it looks nice so far. EDIT: You spelled it right everywhere but the title, but you still might want to fix it.

Well, it's getting near the end. My computer died on me this week, and the contest ends before i get my new motherboard. I think I'll just enter this and hope I have time to get some images done from work.

Comments are welcome!
