Jimo clutched the bandage fabric absorbing the blood from the stitched-up wound in his side and panted heavily.
“You see?” Scolded Sira, the short-but-fierce-tempered doctor who had been tending his wounds. “You’re in no condition to go out. You’re a mess, and after that last battle with the scorpion army you’re lucky to be alive at all.”
Jimo growled. “But Siri-”
“Sira.”
“Sira, I’m only going to the tavern, and there’s nothing you can do about it anyways.”
Sira crossed her arms in a very maternal fashion and hmmphed.
A gigantic, two-storied, oriental building stands before you, overlooking the bay and with a huge front lawn. On a sign, a badly drawn picture depicts a ninja, morbidly obese, flailing his or her arms in a comic and flamboyant manner. The words read, “The Obese Ninja.” Sounds of merrymaking and drunken fun can be heard through the screen walls. On either side of the door, two soldiers stand; One clad in forest green, and one in desert yellow. They eye your weapons suspiciously.
A sight to behold, The Obese Ninja is a spot of cheer in a war-stricken region. For longer than anyone can remember, two neighboring countries, Alusa and Mankan, have been engaged in an age-old battle. Neither country can remember exactly why they still fight, most of the citizens and soldiers do not still want to fight, and both countries are exhausted economically, but both ruling families are too proud -- and aristocratic -- to end the war. The armies of Alusa fly a green dragon banner, while the armies of Mankan ride to war under a orange and yellow scorpion.
A tiny neutral country called Kunika lies just off the southern cost of Alusa and Mankan. Through protection by its ruling council of high-level wizards and some very dexterous diplomacy, Kunika has managed to stay untouched and out of the war, despite being only a 5 minute boat ride from either country.
This 5 minute boat ride, however, makes it quite convenient for a twice-daily ferry to be maintained. And often, soldiers on their off time and civilians looking for a vacation will board the ferry and head to Kunika -- and where else to go than The Obese Ninja?
Checks
Know (Local/Culture), and also Gather info*
DC 10 - The Obese Ninja is a Great Place!
DC 15 - The basics: It’s a place of peace, and other vague items of information like that
DC 20 - Soldiers of both countries can go there to coexist peacefully. It is the pride of Kunika, and also a great vacation spot.
DC30 - The owner’s name is Suni Kao, a wise and benevolent man who used to be a soldier. He knows a lot about a lot, and can probably help the PC’s with whatever plot problems they have.
Know(Geography/History) - A simple DC 15 check will reveal detailed information about the war between Alusa and Mankan, and about Kunika, but not about The Obese Ninja itself.
*This depends where the PC’s are gathering information - citizens from both countries will say great things about it, but anyone higher up, richer, or more aristocratic will have different things to say. They see it as a pit of scum, prostitution, and poverty.

Signature Item - Alphabet Soup
A favorite of the children, this stew comes served in a small ceramic bowl. It is made of chicken broth with noodle letters, along with spices and the chef's secret ingredient. It is enchanted so that letters float to the top to form words in undercommon - often comical ones such as "boobies" and "poopoo". Even a few adults can be seen chuckling over a bowl of this magical stuff.

Signature Item - Samurai Soda
This adult beverage glitters with little sparkles of every color. Along with being extremely tasty, it fills the drinker with a feeling of satisfaction and a desire for nonviolence.
NPC's

-The Gardener - Pixie Expert5/Bard3
This tiny female pixie tends to the gardens, as well as providing enjoyable music to the patrons on a toothpick-sized flute.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v157/colinmarc/chef.png
-The Chef - Gnome Expert7/Sorceror3
TON would not be complete without amazing food. Its food is one of its main attractions, thanks to the chef(who also brews drinks). The Chef is a stout, grey-haired gnome who yells extremely loud. He uses his training and talent in magic to enchant the food.

-The Head Masseuse - Human Expert7
This shapely female draws the gaze of every post-childhood male in the room, especially because of her next-to-nothing leather garb and flowing red hair; and her massages are even more attractive, applied with vigor that leaves the subject more relaxed than a really relaxed person.

Suni Kao - Human Aristocrat5/Fighter10/Wizard5/
An aged, balding, mysterious man, Suni Kao ownes and manages TON. He is said to have experienced war in his past, but is, in every way, against it. He does not tolerate fighting in his tavern, and deals with troublemakers himself. Somehow, he seems to be everywhere, watching every part of TON at once. Despite being somewhat cold and strict, he is very likeable and respected.
Any employee or even some of the patrons of TON can direct the PC's to Kao, and he always seems to be where he is needed. Suni is very old and very wise, and can help the PC's with almost anything they might need.
Plot Hooks
-While the PC's are enjoying their food or a massage, a fight breaks out between a couple dragon soldiers and a couple scorpiont soldiers.
-The Gardener seeks help from the PC's. A group of ettercaps and monstrous spiders have made the garden their home!
-A peace conference is being held in the activity room of the tavern. Kao wants the PC's to serve as peacekeeping muscle.
-The chef requires more ingredients for his food that can only be found in the dense Kunikan forest. He asks the PC's to retrieve said ingredients.
-A dragon turtle or perhaps an elasmosaurus has been attacking the ferry, and it's severly damaging business. Kao asks the PC's to investigate.
