What's the difference?

I know the difference, but I'm asking this for two reasons:

1. So others know

2. I want to see how people define the two.

Wait, what?

Antagonism can be from any direction. You can be the "good guy" and still be the antagonist if you're the one who opposes the main characte(s).

What she said. Antagonism only applies in the context of a story, and it is opposition to the protagonists. Evil applies in the real world as well, and it is opposition to good.

Exemplars of Evil, despite the name, includes Non-Evil Antagonists as well as evil ones, under the term Villains.

So, you can be a Good Villain.

Which is not quite the same as being a good villain

Antagonism doesn't even have to be between a good guy and an evil guy. You can even have two generally good people who are set up in opposition to each other, or two generally evil people.

Antagonists can be non-evil, but against the interests of the main characters, even if the main characters are good. Case in point: Baron Wulfenbach (Girl Genius).
