Minding our own business normal day when suddenly my fiances ferret starts jerking around and foaming at the mouth. Minutes later we're rushing to the emergency vet with no money and getting him checked out. He didn't make it.

Shes sad, i'm sad, theres a morbid air, everything just sucks now. And it was a good day... they said that sometimes ferrets just get cancer, no outward signs, just one day this happens and they die and theres nothing they could have done. I'm going to miss that little guy. :smallfrown:

That sucks dude. Any pet dying sucks.
I really wish dogs could live as long as people because one of mine only has about 6 more years max.

I've had some pets die, and I know how hard it can be. Suddenly like that...I don't know if it's better or worse.

As for long-lived pets, I've often wondered if I should get a parrot.

He was around for three years, first at her house then moved in here with her when she came to live with me... I knew it was going to happen one day, I just wish it could have been more peaceful. :(

losing a pet that you've had long enough to really love, but not long enough for it to have a good long life sucks..

sympathy/empathy towards you..

My sincere condolences.

Losing a pet is even worse when it's to a disease rather than merely old age. Both of my previous dogs were old and deteriorating, and we knew it was coming, but we were also hoping it would be more peaceful. They both got horrible ailments and had to be put down.

My sympathies on the loss to you and your fiancee. It's so hard to lose a pet friend. Ferrets seem so cute and personable, too. I'm sorry.

Thanks guys, we still have the cage covered up and haven't started going though it yet, and I doubt we'll be able to look at things involving ferrets for a while, but we'll be okay. :/

That's too bad. My old cat was an inside cat, and one day he got outside and we found him dead a few days later. We always suspected that the landlord had killed it...

My sister's most painful pet loss was a teddy bear hamster. It lived for at least nine years.

It was hers for 5 years, it was the previous owners for 4. He had found the hamster behind a dumpster fully grown.
