So, I'm guessing that we only get one vote, yes? Also, is it safe to assume that it's bad form to vote for your own entry?

Lilly
2005-10-02, 10:59 PM
You get one vote per category, and it only matters to your conscious if you vote for your own entry, but I'd recomend voting for whatever you think is the best one.

How long does everyone have to vote?

And btw, thanks for putting on the contest and getting everything together ;D

I'm making a helpful post, for a change: below is a list of which entries are eligible for which CR-based categories. Also listed below is whether an entry is eligible for Most Usable as a PC Race. Please note that, regardless of what is said below, all entries are eligible for Best Overall, Best Expansion of the Theme, Most Usable as an Encounter, and the Flumph Award.

The Spawned: Character Race (CRs 4, 9, 16)
Cadre: High-Level (CRs 15, 15, 15, 16)
Song Birds: Character Race, Low-Level (3, 4, 4, 5)
Illusid: Character Race, Low-Level (1/2, 3, 4)
Contrary: Character Race, Low-Level (1, 3, 5)
Sleep: Mid-Level (6, 10, 10, 20)
Clockworks: Low-Level (1, 2, 5)
Pets: Low-Level (1,2, 3, 4, 4)
Santa Cruz: Low-Level, Mid-Level (2, 5, 8)
Capu-Capu: Character Race, Low-Level (1, 1, 12)
Wizenfolk: Character Race, Low-Level (1/2, 3, 4)
Zombies: Low-Level, Mid-Level (2, 4, 5, 6)
Evolution: Low-Level (1, 3, 5)
Elements: Mid-Level (6, 7, 7, 8)
Pordeii: Character Race, Low-Level (1, 1, 5, 7)
Golems: Low-Level (2, 3, 5)
Curses: Character Race, Mid-Level (4, 5, 8, 11, 15)
Southern: Character Race, Low-Level (1/10, 1/2, 1, 3, 4, 5)
Good: Mid-Level (5, 6, 8, 9, 15)

If I didn't put your entry down for a category you think it fits into, PM me. Now, off to bed!

Has anyone noticed that only one entry actually qualifies for the High-Level encounter category?

Serraphin
2005-10-03, 08:31 AM
I actually noticed about half way through doing my own entry...and had a CE desire to alter my entire beasty to be over CR12 :P

Lemme just add my thanks to Lily and Gorbash (and anyone I don't know about) for puttin this together. Enjoyed getting the ol' grey matter working again.

Snow, you just succeeded in completely confusing me ???
Sorry, how did I confuse you? I made my post a bit late at night, so I may not have been all together coherent...
As to the CR specific awards, yes, VT, you have the highest CR, but your other three onsters are midrange, so your entry as a whole is "Mostly Mid-Level."

The Vorpal Tribble
2005-10-03, 11:25 AM
I thought when we voted on the ranges we chose one of the monsters, not the entire category? Thats how I voted on them... doesn't make much sense to me to vote for one as midrange for example when one of the creatures may be high, another low, and two just happen to be in between.

Snommelp
2005-10-03, 11:43 AM
*shrug* The way the contest was laid out, the categories in question are these:

[List] Best overall monster: It says monster (singular) but I mean entire entry.
Best low level encounter: The best set of monsters that is mostly under CR 5
Best mid level encounter: The best set of monsters that is mostly between CR 5 and 12
Best high level encounter: The best set of monsters that is mostly over CR 12

It says "set of monsters," not "single monster." So under these rules, only one entry fits the High-Level category.

EDIT: I guess Glyphstone didn't catch it, but there would have been a way to be eligible for every category. One monster below CR 5, one monster at CR 5, one at CR 12, and one above CR 12. 50% of the entry fits each category. I'm glad Glyph didn't catch that, or if he did he didn't follow through with it.

Just a quick FYI on mine, its a Disease along with a CR 2, 4, 5, and 6 creature. TECHNALLY it can go for low and Mid, but I am guessing it is mostly low.

But why do you imply that they're not original? the Animus and Mortis elementals had their names suggested by other people, but i came up with the concept myself...

Actually, the test just said "gnome," but the scores showed me evenly split between gnome and half-elf, with elf rather close behind. Hence, I am a half elf half gnome.
