i am in an ongoing game with some friends of mine, we are still in 3.5, i want to play with my dad and sister, who are both relatively inexperienced players. is it worth it to spend more money on 4.0 or to stick with 3.5?

...Keep in mind that i have over 26 3.5 supplements, i would hate to lose all that money.

Apples are better than oranges.

InbeforeFLAMEWAR.

It's really tough to compare the two, I have both, and plan to use both.

I don't think people will ever agree on this. If you already have lots of 3.5 stuff, I'd recommend staying with it just so you don't have to spend more money.

Not touching this question...

This topic is an extremely touchy one in these forums. It's like politics and religion. Do not touch. The mods have banned posters over this topic, due to the ire it can will invoke.

Neither 4th or 3rd are better then the other (personal preferences aside). That said if i were you I'd just stick with 3rd, you don't need to start collecting books over again and it's the system you know.

Edit: tripple ninjad wow.

Really? This again?

Okay, let us play this game:
Apples or oranges? Neither, bananas.
Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat? Neither, Soul Calibur.
Mario or Sonic? Neither, Sackboys rule.
Theif or Assassin's Creed? Neither, Metal Gear.

3.5 or 4.0? neither. 1st edition rules. Happy?

It is a matter of personal preference. 4.0 is easier to learn and easier to get through, while 3.5 offers much more specialization and flexibility. I personally prefer 3.5 for the options it gives, although everything being so smoothly streamlined in 4.0 has many people favouring it as well.

Apples are better than oranges.

WRONG!

Oranges are better. Anyone who disagrees is wrong.

Sheriff of Moddingham: I'm just going to lock this as duplicative. There are many other threads here and elsewhere that discuss the differences between the two editions and their relative (de)merits. Please refer to those and feel free to raise specific points for discussion. A(nother) blanket, "which is better" thread is only going to lead to flaming.
