Okay, so, I get strange cravings sometimes, and here's the latest:

I need to grind. I want some mindless leveling, semi-random loot, and most of all...free. The alternative is reactivating my WoW account for the duration of Christmas break. So, any recommendations? Free, simple, grindy? Surely, someone can help me out.

This one (http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/stat_builder)

But seriously there aren't that many good ones I can think of, though I guess Runescape fits what you want pretty well, especially the grinding part.

Maple Story.

It tricks the normal man into thinking its fun but its really very very slow grinding from level one and beyond. Might be right up your ally.

Dare I suggest Diablo? I or II, they're much the same in this regard.

I'd suggest Diablo 2 as well--it's not free but you should be able to pick it up dirt cheap now considering its age, and as far as grinding is concerned, it fits the bill perfectly!

As a note, Blizzard is still selling Diablo 2 at $40 new...

BUT, you get Diablo 2, its expack, diablo 1 and strategy guides included in all that..

Still, a pain if all you want is diablo 2 and its expack.

Wait, what? There's someone out there who does not already own D2?

Next you'll be telling us that leprechauns are real.

Grinding games?

LaTale's pretty fun for a grinding game, since half your EXP comes in the form of quests, while the other half is grinding for those quests.

SilkRoad (http://www.joymax.com/silkroad/)

Might be what you want. I havent played it that much (too grindy:smalltongue:), but a friend of mine had a highish level character and his quests where something like "go kill 372 giant carnivorous plants". So yeah.

I enjoyed 9 Dragons (http://9dragons.acclaim.com/) for a while. It's basically a WoW clone set in ancient China.

I don't own it and have never played it. Button spamming has never been my idea of fun.

Maple Story. It's actually kind of fun for grinding games, at first, but it runs dry after about the first month or two.
