Man, I'm trying to draw a guy doing air quotes, and it looks like he's trying to administer the shocker or something. It doesn't look right at all because the character has 4 digits rather than 5. Anyone know of a good example of a 4-fingered cartoon doing air quotes?

I think it may be the angle you're drawing the hands at. You can't see the curl on the little finger at all, and both hands seem to face toward the viewer, rather than facing a point just ahead of the character.

It looks like he's doing the T-Rex.

Try having the thumb and the pinky/ring finger touch.

I made a quick sketch. Excuse the clawfingers, that's just how i normally draw 'em:

Also, the hands should be sort of angled back. I mean, do some air quotes yourself, and look at the hands...

Ack, I went ahead and finished the strip before I saw all this great feedback. Threeshades, your sketch is very helpful, and I may actually go back and try to clean this up now. I added some motion marks, and that helped a little, but I really like how you articulated your hands.

Here's the strip currently: http://subplotcomics.com/2008/12/happily-ever-after/
