This is for a Mutants and Masterminds session. The plot I'm working on is this: It takes place in a world almost identical, but a little more technologically advanced. There have been individuals who have demonstrated paranormal abilities since about 1947, but they've been few and far between. The source of their powers, I'm leaving unknown, since some powers appear to be technological in nature, some seem supernatural, etc.

The main characters are about high-school age, and they each have powers (they're all in the PL8-9 range). There aren't any costumes or capes in this world; just regular attire. The code-names are more like nicknames they use around each other (kind of like the way some parents have nicknames for their kids). I just can't come up with code-names. Here's a brief rundown of the characters and their powers:

ANDY: Looks a lot like Dean Venture (much like the way Ultimate Nick Fury looks a lot like Samuel L. Jackson  ). The son of a retired Marine, Andy's got a major fantasy problem (similar to Calvin's daydreams about Spaceman Spiff or Tracer Bullet). Powers: Flame blasts; can also use the blasts to temporarily propel himself at high speed or slow his fall.

PAIGE: Tall (5'10"), German-Vietnamese heritage, blond hair tied in a braid. Dresses like Eagle from Street Fighter, has been studying martial arts since the age of 10. Powers: Controls hornets like The Pain from MGS 3. So far, has demonstrated the ability to use them blast like a machine gun, create a temporary "bug shield", or slow her fall from a great height.

MAGGIE: Take Jaime Pressly, dye her hair dark brown, and give her a Brooklyn accent instead of Southern, and that's Maggie. Powers: Telekinetic; uses it to launch objects as "missiles" at her targets, fly for short distances or deliver long-range "psychic blows", like Kenshi.

SYD: Half Japanese/half Hindu, shoulder-length black hair, looks like Freddie Mercury. Because of his androgynous appearance and style of clothing (usually a black trenchcoat, long-sleeved shirt and cargo pants), some people are thrown by his gender (NOTE: Syd definitely IS a guy; it's not like with V here). Despite his hair color and coat, he's NOT a Goth; call him that, and you'll be running faster than a prune taste-tester with a stomach virus. Powers: "Spirit-form" renders him intangible and invisible, as well as able to astral project and fly for short distances. He's also recently developed the ability to communicate with the dead (no Sixth Sense jokes, please).

********* JONES: 5'1", Shoulder-length blond spiky hair, semi-Gothic makeup, tomboyish clothing. She's tough, and a bit of a scrapper. She and Chris have been the best of friends since the age of nine. Powers: Similar to the Predator from the movies (enhanced strength/agility/senses), but without the fancy weapons. Unlike the Predator, she can become invisible without a cloaking device, though it drains her physically.

CHRIS: Born in Port Arthur, TX, and proud of it. A natural musician and lover of classic rock, Chris is an extremely laid-back individual. In many ways, he's a live-action version of Floyd from The Muppet Show, without the weird facial hair. His usual attire consists of classic-rock t-shirts (Rush, Fleetwood Mac, etc.), a denim vest and patched bell-bottoms. Powers: Electrical-based, mainly short-range blasts, a stun bolt, and a "power punch".

Andy: Codenamed "Dragon" (for his love of fantasy and his fire powers)

Paige: Codenamed "Stinger" (for her power over hornets)

Maggie: Codenamed "Enigma" (for her her mysterious psychic powers)

Syd: Codenamed "Ghost" (for his 'spirit form' and ability to communicate with the non-living)

Jones: Codenamed "Hunter" (for his exceptional strength and agility)

Chris: Codenamed "Eel" (for his electrical powers)

Hope these give you some ideas.

OOh, and ninjaed on the "Ghost" name too...

ANDY:
Comet

PAIGE:
Ali (joke reference to float like a butterfly, sting like a bee)

MAGGIE:
Ballista (particularly if she's ever worked as a Starbucks barrista)

SYD:
Ghost

********* JONES:
No clue, too many possibilities

CHRIS:
Holmes or Sherlock (again, a joke, as Syd once called him Watt-san in jest)

Andy: Pyro

Paige: Beekeeper

Maggie: Sniper

Jones: Jack

Syd is difficult without making any references to ghosts or spirits

Chris: Shocker or Volgin

Dude, Jones is a girl. What I decided was that since her first name's an extremely feminine-sounding one (in contrast with her Joan Jett-style persona), she prefers to only go by her last name. People only call her by her first name (highlight it), Melanie, if they're truly concerned about her, or they're ready to meet the Grim Reaper.

Other than that, nice choices. Thanks a lot!!

Oh, sorry. Didn't see that. Hunter seems like it could still work, though.
