Am I the only guy who doesn't find that comic tragic at all? Miko got what she deserved. I'm just sad Soon wasn't cursing her and saying: "Just to spite you, you're going to wander the clouds alone and friendless forever. You will never again see your family, your friends, or Windstriker. I mean, I was THIS close to ending Xykon's threat and you just had to go mess it up, didn't ya? :smallfurious:"

I guess she just irked me too much for me to label her a tragically-flawed warrior. She was just an insane bigot

Yes, I WENT there, Miko fans. I SO went there.

I'm not a fan of Miko, I so like it when she is beaten by Roy or Belkar. But, still, it's really epic how her fall is described, her death - put real actors in that comic and add some music, and you'd get the perfect ending for a tragic Hollywood drama. To die alone, realizing that you were wrong even though you risked your life and everything that meant something to you for what you thought was the "good" cause - I mean, that's straight from the Greek tragedies.

Considering you quoted someone else who didn't find it tragic, I'd say your question was answered.

She was just an insane bigot.

Well, now, there's an ironic statement, considering the amount of hate expressed in that post.

Miko no more deserved what she got than the master she killed for lying to her and manipulating her did. There was justice in it, but it was still a waste.

I can't help but cry because someone started another "what's V's gender?" thread. :smalltongue:

That said, this one always gets me:

I have to agree with Shatteredtower here (especially since it was Shojo who was happy to use her fanatisism for achieving his goals, while apparetly not caring about Miko's instability).

I have always liked Miko. I have always been interested in what evil is and when a person goes to far and I think Miko is excently portrayed as a person who slips and slips and, eventually, goes to far.

I pity her and her fate. Not everyone gets a second chance and that is wonderfully shown by the Giant. She could've become a better person, with time and guidence.

She lacked both. :smallfrown:

But to add som orginality to this, I sure was affected by Therklas death in 593, but what really got me bawling was 598. "She would have made a pretty good girlfriend too". :smallfrown:

The thing that made me cry in it (and made me cry again right now while rereading it) is the Windrider reference. :smalleek:

I remember when Miko got her paladin powers stripped from her after killing Shojo, and I literally rocked back and forth in my chair, laughing and pointing at the screen, shouting "SERVES YOU RIGHT!!!" But then, when she died, I was slightly sad. I realized that she was a complex character, and while she was misled and narrowminded, she deserved a somewhat happy ending, because she thought she was doing good, and getting to see Windstriker seemed to fit that bill.

Still, I can't help but be angry every time I see Soon about to kill Xykon, knowing it doesn't work.

Also, 400, 483, and 593 get to me pretty easily.

Miko death didnt do anything to me. I hated her but I wasnt happy when she died either. Why? Because she should really have died sooner. After she killed Shojo and destroyed the gate it was just too late, at that point it didnt matter anymore. But Soon speech? Now thats a totally different thing. Such mercy and charisma, I understand why he was the leader of the paladins.

Anyway, going back to the original topic of this thread, that comic doesnt make me cry but it always make me smile. Rich is a genius.

Edit: and yeah, I agree with Bigfreekb. Now I cried at that one.

I was sad when Miko died. I liked her. No, she wasn't perfect, but none of the characters here are. More than anything, I feel sorry for her, she didn't deserve to die, but she did. She died doing what she felt was the right thing to do.

Yeah, Soon wasn't going to be spiteful or otherwise intentionally cruel to her, but he was a lot kinder to her than he had to be.

Yeah, Soon wasn't going to be spiteful or otherwise intentionally cruel to her, but he was a lot kinder to her than he had to be.

That's up to interpretation. I read it as Soon being quite straightforward. Miko did exactly what she was required to do, and exactly what any other member of the Sapphire Guard would do in the same situation.

Soon, while recognizing the situation as unfortunate, admitted that she had performed her duty adequately, but explained that she would not be allowed back into the ranks of paladinhood merely for doing a soldier's duty.

To help put it in perspective, think about how pissed people would be if Soon did kill Xykon permanently? I mean, there goes your plot.

She was just an insane bigot

Insane I can see, but how is she a bigot?

that comic always makes me so sad and depressed, even though it's a great comic but it was very tear-jerking:smallfrown:

went nowhere? She's the reason Elan went berserk on Kubota. And the reason he got majorly pissed at V for saying "...does this mean we don't gain XP for defeating her?". I think she had, and will continue to have, a large impact on Elan's life. I think he may now realise the world is not as sweet and good as he previously thought and get a very dark reality check
