Leah is a reserved individual in most situations. Her cool demeanour and dry sense of humour have kept her from making a wide circle of friends since arriving at Sorland Town. Notably, Leah becomes much more animated and excited when discussing her favourite subjects, be it fossil pokémon, botany or Silph. Co's latest innovations.
Spoiler: Friends and Acquaintances
Leah's mother, Katelyn, is an innovator. She designs components and completed items for Silph Co. For the last three years she has lived in Sorland Town along with the rest of her family. She typically works from home due to the lack of a formalised workshop. Odds and ends litter the benches in her study from various half-completed pieces.
Leah's father, Aaron, is an engineer for Silph Co. It's his work that lead him to bring his family across the sea to the Lando region. His primary job since arriving has been to oversee construction projects around the town. Due to the Devon Corporation's greater presence in this part of the region, his work has tended toward smaller scale projects.
Professor Hawthorne took Leah on as one of her interns shortly after Leah first met Lincoln. While the field of Pokémon psychology isn't directly related to Leah's preferred fields of study, the Professor has nonetheless proven to be a good mentor. In particular, Professor Hawthorne is eager to consider how ancient pokémon might react to modern environments, a question that Leah hadn't even considered until the Professor proposed it.

Spoiler: Growing up
Leah grew up far from Londo in Saffron City, in the Kanto region. With her parents working as researcher's for Silph Co., Leah was raised in a very scientifically minded environment. During her time in school she found that it was the study of life, past and present, that really caught her attention. A field trip to the Pewter City museum provided all the convincing she needed. When she was older, she was going to be a Palaeontologist.
As with all children in Kanto, Leah received her first pokémon when she was ten. Though she had no intention of going adventuring just yet, she was still thrilled to finally receive a pokémon of her very own. Her Bulbasaur, 'Saura', soon proved to be a perfect match for her. The two would often go on 'expeditions' into the outskirts of the forests surrounding Saffron City, so that Leah could hunt for new species of plants. Though she had paid little attention, it was also at this time that the Lando region was discovered by the world at large. It seemed to Leah that her parents were always talking about work in the time that followed. The reason became evident when she was twelve. They were going to be moving to the new region.
Spoiler: Life in Sorland Town
Leah's first impression of Sorland Town was mixed. Initially, she was excited at the chance to explore all new areas, perhaps even discover an unknown fossil pokémon! After her first few weeks, however, this excitement gave way to boredom. There was barely anything to do in this town, she didn't know anyone here except for her parents and Saura and she couldn't even visit other towns because there were no trains.
Frustrated with the state of affairs she found herself in, Leah was reluctant to try and make friends around the town. When her attempts to persuade her parents to take them back to Kanto failed, she buried herself in her books instead. While her academic performance continued to go from strength to strength, her social life slowly began to expand beyond Saura.
Toward the end of her first year in Londo, Leah was very nearly a total recluse. Concerned for her trainer's well-being, Saura decided to act. Whenever Leah was distracted, be it with studying or chores, Saura would sneak off in search of a friendly trainer to help lift Leah's spirits. Saura's antics were finally noticed when Leah was wandering around town one weekend. Saura abruptly ran off, prompting Leah to chase after her. The Bulbasaur clearly wanted to lead her somewhere, frequent stops ensured that Leah never lost sight of her, but at the same time she couldn't catch up to Saura. The chase led the pair out of town, ending up on a grassy hill overlooking Sorland Town.
When she finally crested the hill, Leah was greeted with the sight of an older boy reaching down to greet Saura. Embarrassed, she apologised for Saura's strange behaviour and tried to leave. When her Bulbasaur refused to budge, she started to get frustrated. Cajoling, cursing and eventually pleading with Saura failed to get the pokémon to move. Defeated, Leah just sat on the grass next to Saura. After several minutes, the awkward silence was interrupted as the bemused boy introduced himself as Lincoln. Gradually, the two started to talk and get to know one another.
Once Leah and Lincoln's friendship solidified, Leah began to feel a growing confidence in herself. With a new drive to succeed, she plucked up the courage to go to Professor Hawthorn and ask to be taken on as a student intern. Overjoyed when her request was accepted, Leah began working in the pokélab in earnest.

Spoiler: Getting to know Lincoln
Leah and Lincoln talked for a long time the day they met. Aside from her parents, Lincoln was the first person she'd had a real conversation with since arriving in Londo. Eventually, aware that she may start to be missed at home, Leah said her goodbyes. Just having that long talk had felt good, she felt much more comfortable with her surroundings.
Over the next week, Leah became much more aware of Lincoln's presence around town. Where before he had been just another face in a sea of people she didn't know, he was now a rock of familiarity. After the first few awkward greetings in the street, the two of them gradually started to become friends. Before too long, Lincoln offered to show Leah some of the surrounding countryside, an opportunity she was all too happy to take him up on.
As time goes by, their friendship has merely grown stronger. Through the confidence her friendship with Lincoln has provided her, Leah has gone on to make several more good friends around Sorland Town. While some of these are strong indeed, she still finds that Lincoln is her closest ally.
Spoiler: Leah and Saura
Though they have no real experience of battling alongside one another, Leah and Saura have spent much of the past five years as close friends. Whenever Leah went exploring around Saffron City, Saura was always by her side. The two shared in many initial foray's into the surroundings of Sorland Town. When Leah became withdrawn in protest at having to stay, it was Saura that gently coaxed her out of it by leading her to meet Lincoln.
As the prospect of adventure approaches, Leah can rest easy knowing that Saura will be right by her side.
