Default Re: Mythos Vestiges IV: At The Mountains of Madness

    Ubbo-Sathla, the Unbegotten Source
A primordial being thought to have spawned all life, Ubbo-Sathla slumbers beneath the frigid ice of the southernmost reaches of the world.

    Vestige Level: 8th
    Binding DC: 40

A huge protoplasmic mass that dwells in subterranean caverns beneath the icy wastes of the south, Ubbo-Sathla is thought by his cultists to have been the progenitor of all mortal life. An shapeless and mindless demiurge, Ubbo-Sathla is revered by occultists and mages alike, believing that contained within the very flesh of Ubbo-Sathla is the knowledge of the gods themselves, occasionally made manifest to mortals in the form of stone tablets, written on in alien texts, that extrude from the flesh of the Unbegotten Source.

It is from one such tablet that the secret rites for binding Ubbo-Sathla was taken, though the cultist who transcribed the rite lost his life to Ubbo-Sathla’s blind hunger. His apprentice, however, took the transcribed ritual from the master’s hands, and fled, eventually spreading the blasphemous rite among the cult of the Unbegotten.

Ubbo-Sathla manifests as a huge, amorphous shape, like a blood-red tumor the size of a man. Living creatures, ranging in size from insects to men will occasionally extrude from the protoplasmic mass, only to collapse into slime as soon as they cross over the boundary of the seal.

Those bound to Ubbo-Sathla lose their native form, becoming a man-sized, protoplasmic masses of slime and ooze.

Those under the influence of the Unbegotten Source lose their power of intellect. While their native intelligence is not affected, they cease to concern themselves with it. They will not speak, use logic or reason, or use Intelligence-based skills, acting instead on instinct.

    Granted Abilities
Ubbo-Sathla transforms those bound to him into protoplasmic masses, endowing them with profane strength.

    Aberrant Pseudopods (Ex)
You gain two slam attacks that deal 1d10 damage as primary natural weapons. In addition, you gain a +10 enhancement bonus to Strength. You do not gain the benefits of this ability if you do not show Ubbo-Sathla’s sign.

    Amorphous Form (Ex)
Your body becomes protoplasmic and shapeless. Any magic items or armor you wear merge into your amorphous body, and continue to grant you their benefits. However, you cannot hold or manipulate items, and cannot wield manufactured weapons. You can move through openings or holes as small as 2 inches in diameter. You are immune to poison, polymorphing, and stunning, and cannot be flanked. Whenever you would be dealt extra damage by a critical hit, sneak attack, or similar source of precision-based damage, there is a 75% chance that the damage does not apply. You do not gain the benefits of this ability if you do not show Ubbo-Sathla’s sign.

    Binary Fission (Su)
As a standard action, you can divide yourself in two, creating a copy of you that appears in an adjacent square. The copy thinks and acts as you would, and follows any commands you give it. The duplicate has all of your abilities, but no duplicate items are created. You may, however, choose to transfer any number of items to the copy. The copy is bound to all vestiges that you are at the moment you use this ability, though it cannot use this ability to create further copies. If you or the copy use an ability of a vestige that requires you to wait 5 rounds before you can use it again, neither of you can use it until those rounds have passed. The copy can cast spells, manifest powers, or use similar abilities if you can. If the copy casts a spell, then it expends one of your prepared spells or spell slots; it spends your power points to manifest powers; and uses any daily uses of your other abilities for its own. The copy has hp equal to your own at the time you use this ability, but any spells, powers, or similar abilities affecting you do not affect the cop. The copy remains for 1 round per Binder level, after which it rejoins with you. You take damage equal to half the damage dealt to your copy, though this damage cannot reduce you to less than -9 hp. Any ability drain or ability damage dealt to your copy carries over to you when the copy rejoins with you, but any other abilities affecting it do not. If the copy is killed, it does not rejoin with you, but you gain a negative level, and cannot use this ability again for as long as you remain bound to Ubbo-Sathla. Once this ability's duration has ended, you cannot use it again for 5 rounds. You cannot use this ability if you do not display Ubbo-Sathla's sign.

    Blindsight (Ex)
You gain blindsight out to 30 ft. You do not gain the benefits of this ability if you do not show Ubbo-Sathla’s sign.

    Fast Healing (Ex)
You gain fast healing 5 whenever you are at 50% or less of your total hp.

I no longer actively read the forums, and probably won't respond to any PMs. I'm fine with people using my homebrew in anything, including fan-compilations and wikis, as long as you credit me.
