It specifies an armor bonus. Natural armor gives a natural armor bonus to AC, which is different.

Also the flavor text says something about piercing natural defenses. Logically, if you've gotten past the scales or whatever you should be able to twist your weapon for extra pain. Not that that's necessarily a good idea IRL, but that's what the feat says.

Flay works against anyone who lacks an "armor bonus" to AC. Natural armor, dodge bonus, insight bonus, shield bonus, and all the other types of bonuses that add to AC do not count as an armor bonus.
But seriously, Flay sucks. Unless you're doing a Hexblade debuff build, I'd skip it. Even then, there are plenty of better debuff feats and tactics out there - Frightful Presence, Brutal Strike, Netherese Battle Curse, Spell Storing weapons, and/or a net, razor net, and lasso.Last edited by Person_Man; 2009-01-18 at 02:57 PM.
