Default [3.5] The path of divinity lies within [PrC]

    Awakened Apostle

Hand of Pelor, Awakened Apostle of the Sun God

Awakened Apostles are not the traveling clerics most would love to meet, they the right hand of divinity itself. With each step doing good they become closer to the power of good and even learning to control it for their own uses. The awakened have been behind the veil gaining the power of good and awaiting for the final war on evil to begin.

From the very first who walked this path, the awakened apostles have been mistaken for angels, some as messengers others as holy conquerors and have influenced all peoples, from the loneliest peasant to the very kings who rule today. Some awakened apostles even rise to a level of glory and power in which they influence the ideas and decisions of the gods themselves.

Class Skills: Concentration (Con), Diplomacy (Cha), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (arcana) (Int), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Knowledge (the planes) (Int), Profession (Wis), and Spellcraft (Int).
Skill Points per Level: 2 + Intelligence modifier

    Class Features:

Weapon and armor proficiencies: Awakened Apostles gain no additional weapon or armor proficiencies.

Awaken Divinity (Su): The character awakens the divine spark of good within and learns to tap directly into the power of his own personal divinity itself. The awakened apostle spends one turn attempt as a standard action to tap into this nascent spark of power. For one round per awakened apostle level plus his Wisdom modifier, he may transcend into a being of holy power, rippling with a 20ft radius aura of holy light. This aura grants him a +2 sacred bonus to Charisma while it active, and causes 1d6 points of sacred damage to undead and evil outsiders per round while they are within its range. Once this duration has expired, the awakened apostle is fatigued. He may only use this ability once per encounter.

Spells: When a new awakened apostle level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in a divine spellcasting class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained, except for an increased effective level of spellcasting. If a character had more than one divine spellcasting class before becoming an awakened apostle, he must decide to which class he adds the new level for purposes of determining spells per day.

Eyes of Divinity (Su): At 2nd level, the awakened apostle’s eyes begin to glow softly with a clear, white light which grants him darkvision of 60ft. This also gives him a -2 circumstance penalty on Hide checks, however, due to the light emanating from his eyes.

First Embrace (Su): Continuing down the path of self-divinity, the awakened apostle learns to embrace and nurture the spark of power within. He adds a +2 sacred bonus to AC while his Awaken Divinity ability is active.

Second Embrace (Su): The path of divinity teaches its student that the holy power within, when awakened, lends the practitioner a great deal of might. When the awakened apostle has activated his Awaken Divinity ability, he may utilize the lay on hands special ability of a paladin, with a class level equal to his awakened apostle level. This lay on hands ability, regardless of how many times in a day he activates his Awaken Divinity ability, may only be used once per day.

Third Embrace (Su): As he progresses down the path of divinity, the awakened apostle learns that when he has released the potential of his divine spark, he may use its aid directly in combat. When using his Awaken Divinity ability, he gains immunity to fear effects and may use the spell searing light as a spell-like ability a number of times per day equal to his Charisma modifier, with a caster level equal to twice his awakened apostle level. The awakened apostle also receives a +2 sacred bonus to his Wisdom score, while his Awaken Divinity ability is active.

Fourth Embrace (Su): Nearing the completion of his personal trek towards self-divinity, the awakened apostle learns to embrace the final steps toward becoming a divinity of his own. When activating his Awaken Divinity ability, the character develops glorious wings of semi-tangible holy light. These wings enable a fly speed of 40ft (good) while active, and the light from these wings emanate a consecrate effect with a caster level equal to the awakened apostle’s character level. This consecrate effect moves with the character while the Awaken Divinity ability is in use.

Personal Divinity (Su): The pinnacle of the awakened apostle’s journey, he has reached his destination and become a truly divine being. The character’s type changes to outsider (native, good) and he gains damage reduction 5/evil. When activating his Awaken Divinity ability, his sacred bonus to Charisma improves to +4, and the sacred damage caused by his aura to undead and evil outsiders improves to 1d8.

Hello again. Like the last class, interesting idea and well written. However, has the same problem of overpowered due to level stacking.

You will definately have to take out some spell casting levels for this to start balancing out. Full spellcasting in a PrC is almost never given, and the closest is usually 9/10ths (missing one level at 1st).

The actual class abilities are useful and there are some dead levels, which helps bring down the power some. I would take out roughly 4-5 levels of spellcasting. So say one at 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th.

Otherwise, good job. Also, in the name of the 10th level ability in your table doesn't match the one discripted below.

I waived the nerf stick at the class, but I wanted to have a full caster progression PrC. Look at Radiant Servant of Pelor, for example. Potent class with powerful abilities, full caster progression.

Take a look at what I changed.

Actually, those aren't dead levels - they grant spellcasting, which makes them just as useful as normal levels. Otherwise, the sorcerer would just be a bunch of dead levels, which it certainly isn't.
