LA +2. Buyback etc. can always allow people to get around the LA problems, and this allows for more uniqueness.

As a DM I think that having a plant/humanoid thingy should be a monster strictly, to keep their uniqueness and mysteriousness privy only to them, so the players have to keep guessing. So obviously my vote is LA +2
