Comparing Strength
How strong is the hulk?
Let's compare things according to 3.5
A Human at Peak Strength ECL 1 Can -
- Move while wearing a 100 pound backpack without serious difficulty, whether visible or not.
- Can Curl almost 150 pounds
- Can Military Press 300 pounds.
- Can Bench 600 pounds.
- Can Drag Three Quarters of a Short Ton
- Has a minor chance of winning in an arm wrestle against a typical ogre.
- If he/she is a barbarian and flies into a rage, they could probably lift a 500 pound boulder over their head and then hurl it a very short distance.
Mind you, most imperial human legionnaires in roman times could not approach this level of physical achievement.
An Orc at Peak Strength ECL 1 Can -
- Bench over 1000 pounds
- Easily Drag Over a Metric Ton
- Curl a 200 pound weight; the kind that probably doesn't exist in any gyms I know of.
- Likely Trump a North American Strong Man Competition (fatties with biceps!)
An Ogre at Peak Strength ECL 5 (minimum) Can -
- Military Press Over 1000 pounds on a Whim
- Carry a Saddle containing Two Humans in Full Plate Without too Much Difficulty
- Twin Curl 500 pound Barbells (the kind that would kill the toughest man if brushed over the head with)
- Easily Bench Over a Metric Ton
Cammy From Street Fighter (ECL Uknown; plenty of iterations, I'm sure) Can -
- Wield Her Red Metal Gauntlets, Each Weighing 800 pounds Without Any Difficulty Whatsoever
- Military Press Three Short Tons, or Two While Wearing the Gauntlets
- Bench Five Short Tons While Wearing the Gauntlets
- Smash through thin concrete floors on a swift action or perhaps a move action
- Bust up a large muscle car in less than a minute if the player controlling her is 'good enough'. And then squish it into a crumple as if it were a piece of paper (although she would be using both hands to speed up the process).
A Halo Universe Spartan With Peak Strength in Armor (ECL 1 Without Mjolnir Powered Armor) Can -
- Lift a warthog over his/her head with incredible ease and then throw it a short distance. Or tip it right side up as an immediate action during a round of combat.
- Bench a scorpion (that is, if it weighs close to an M1 Abrams)
- Drag a freight of over 1200 tons.
- Leap up to eight vertical feet at any time, or ten at the most - if untrained in jumping.
- Kill a typical ogre with a good ol' slam attack
The Hulk (plenty of iterations, again) Can
- Wield the barrel of an M1 Abram's main cannon like an improvised war club to bash said tank to ribbons after tearing the barrel off of the very same tank.
- Leap incalculable distances.
- Hold up the weight of a mountain (or a decent sized vertical slab of sheer rock formation many times his own size), as seen on the front of a comic issue; not necessarily hurtle aforementioned weight.

Er... why does this belong in Homebrew?

Re: Comparing Strength
Only the hulk wouldn't just spam SK: Jump. He'd have a few other abilities up his sleeve as well, like improved unarmed strike and powerful build (he's also size huge).
Additionally, the spartan with four feats blown on SK: Jump has a +43 modifier (not including ranks) can leap a minimum of eleven vertical feet, which is three additional feet above his strength in mjolnir and generally not worth it.Last edited by imp_fireball; 2009-03-04 at 01:44 AM.

Re: Comparing Strength
From Wikipedia for those of you who don't read the Hulk:
The Hulk possesses the potential for near-limitless physical strength depending directly on his emotional state, particularly his anger.[39] This has been reflected in the repeated comment "The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets." The entity Beyonder once claimed that the Hulk's potential strength had "no finite element inside".[40] His durability, healing, and endurance also increase in proportion to his temper.[41] Greg Pak described the Hulk shown during World War Hulk as having a level of physical power where "Hulk was stronger than any mortal --and most immortals-- who ever walked the Earth." [42]
Also, the hulk would of course be Large-sized while transformed and have Run, Powerful Build, Up the Walls, Great Leap, Leap of the Heavens, Wield Over-sized Weapon, Improved Unarmed Strike, Improved Natural Attack (unarmed strike), Power Attack, Cleave, Great Cleave, Whirlwind Attack, Toughness (at least 5 times), Improved Toughness, Sonic Slap, Stomp, Adamantine Strike (like a monk), Trample, Regeneration 10 or 20, Damage Reduction 10 or 20/adamantine, Natural Armor 5 or 10 and an improved base speed like a monk etc.
Effectively to build the Hulk out of class levels you should take a Troll, add 20 levels of Barbarian and at least 10 of fighter only sacrifice some of the fighter feats for the monk's speed and ki strike (adamantine and magic) and then add the Damage Reduction/adamantine and use his feats to gain the above abilities as by a monster or by epic levels. The Hulk should also have the Feat of Strength ability like a cleric with the Strength domain only he uses his barbarian level instead.
Marvel Comics describes adamantine as the only metal strong enough to pierce his skin, even with the most powerful bullets, they won't penetrate unless they're adamantine and since a sniper rifle does like 2d10 in d20 Modern a DR10 to 20 would be appropriate.Last edited by arkanis; 2009-03-05 at 11:07 PM.
Everything is perspective. You can't excuse or ignore anything because of that.
