Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I want I want iwantiwantIWANT V's family to be horrified at his/her appearance, and V to kill them before regaining sanity! PLEEEEAAAAAAAASE!
Really. It would pretty much wreck the character as much as needed.

Re: OOTS #636 - The Discussion Thread
Oh, man, now we're gonna have to wait to see if ABD made that save :X I hope not, so all hell would break loose!
On the other hand, looks like one the epic mages took a feat for a 10th level spell slot :D Quickened disintegrate...

Nice use of HTML-esque comments. :)
Also, Quickened Disintigrate; for when it absolutely, positively must be blowing in the wind.

Re: OOTS #636 - The Discussion Thread
Hmmm, not what I expected at all.
No Epic Spellcasting to pierce right through the AMF.
Still using Disintegrate instead of nasty necromancy like Heightened Finger of Death or something.
And no real humor mixed into the action. Usually OotS has a punch line even during the dramatic climax episodes.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and shouldn't V's first Quickened spell have been Dimensional Anchor? Because the Dragon might just Greater Teleport away before it's in real trouble. Then again, I guess with the soul splice V could just Scry-and-Die it anyway.Last edited by Draz74; 2009-03-11 at 02:10 AM.

Re: OOTS #636 - The Discussion Thread
The quickened disintegrate was an interesting choice considering all the powerful spells available. I'll chalk that one to V's own personal style.
The look on the dragon's face was priceless. I loved it. Great job, Rich!

Re: OOTS #636 - The Discussion Thread
Well, that dragon is toast. I get the feeling we'll spend a lot of time dealing with the aftereffects of these events on the family, though.

Re: OOTS #636 - The Discussion Thread
I'm hoping for something similar. Something along the lines of V gloating about killing the dragon's son and hir mate/kids saying they think V provoked the attack...then V getting mad at them, horrifying them so more, disowning hir family for being so ungrateful, spitting on hir mate for being an ignorant baker instead of pursuing the respectable art of magic...and then some sort of beating.
I don't want V to kill hir family. I'd like hir to do something so horrible that even after regaining sanity, shi still must live knowing they are alive and well and wanting nothing to do with hir.
EDIT: Just noticed after reading a second time...V's mate is nailed to the tree. How'd the dragon do that...magic or just picking the little Baker-Elf up with one hand and slamming a few sharp spikes in there with the other...either way...nice touch.Last edited by Raging Gene Ray; 2009-03-11 at 02:20 AM.

V's CL must be thru the roof as now, as is his CR. He is also epic inside because he has access to 10th level spell slots.

Re: OOTS #636 - The Discussion Thread
Probably part V's style, part poetic justice. Gotta finish the dragon off with the same spell that killed her son.
I've got to see what happens in the rest of this arc before passing any more judgement on how awesome or not the story is. I do like the colour composition on this particular strip however. The background of the forest looks really nice (well, gloomy, but nicely gloomy). I'm not sure what those puddles of green are though - can black dragons breathe acid? (I'm not super knowledgable about the minute of D&D
)

Re: OOTS #636 - The Discussion Thread
I like V's soulspliced look. I like the use of the panel insets. I like the content of these latest developments. I don't know where it is going, but I trust Rich to take it somewhere interesting.
Thanks.

Hmmm... I sense dark times ahead...
SpoilerBoth her kids legs are broken, and her husband is nailed to a tree. Since she has no access to divine magics, perhaps she will be convinced to "heal" them using the necromantic powers she now posesses.Currently serving the Noble House Kato as the Seemingly Incompitent Bodyguard Who Is In Fact Rather Compitent.

Re: OOTS #636 - The Discussion Thread
This would be a Big Damn Heroes moment, if it wasn't for the fact V made a deal with the Devil/Demon/Daemon to get to this point. Still, an awesome comic.
Now for the comedown where we see how repulsed V's family is by h** new look."They couldn't know that the points from the mainline to the siding were frozen, and the signal should have been set at 'DANGER', but snow had forced it down."
