Re: OOTS #641 - The Discussion Thread
So the name of V's mate is Kyrie... this means he has plot importance.
As for the title, refer to Newton's third law of motion: For every action, there is an opposite, but equal reaction.
I'm guessing based on the comments of the other two souls, neither Jephton nor Ganonron have been acquainted with a female.Yet another Touhou fan in the playground.

Well, this is going to be interesting.
Hahahaha. "More of a fixed-term lease" indeed, good luck with that V.Resurrection Fund Treasurer (retired) of the Flopsy Fan Club.

Re: OOTS #641 - The Discussion Thread
Well, at least we know that the fans won't rampage when V uses epic spells from the other splices. If she turned out to be the weakest, though (and thus V wasn't trying to hold on as hard, and he only had concentration enough for two) that would have turned some heads.

Re: OOTS #641 - The Discussion Thread
Uh-oh, that "without a mortal host" line is worrying....
Hey, Parent has a name at last! And guts too, apprentice baker or not, if Kyrie's willing to face down an apparently-fiend-possessed V with no better weapon than a stick. Granted, (s)he -- or maybe "ke"? -- can't very well flee with two kindergarteners slung over kir shoulders when kir wrists and ankles are damaged, but it's still a very brave move for a low-level civilian NPC.

Whee. At the least, it does show that V hasn't completely lost his sense of conscience.

Wow...my plan was pretty spot on. Though I'm sure everyone else predicted this happening to V, I'm wondering when she will kill Belkar. If that happens.

Re: OOTS #641 - The Discussion Thread
It's so good to see that V is capable of understanding the perspective of hir mate, that s/he isn't completely divorced from reality. I am a bit puzzled that Kyrie doesn't appear to grasp or show any gratitude for the fact that V did what s/he did to save their lives.
Also, I wonder how the kids are standing up on their broken legs.
Finally, it would appear that purple-fiend is NE, if we take it as given that Haerta is its responsibility.

Re: OOTS #641 - The Discussion Thread
Part of me hopes that Kyrie will now shout some sense into Vaarsuvius. (S)he's been needing it for about 160 strips.

Moment of Truth, meet Suvie. Suvie, meet Moment of Truth.
What happens in the next couple of strips is going to be probably the determing factor as to where V ends up when all is said and done. An obvious comment? Sure. But there you are.
Should be interesting to see which way V jumps right now....Concluded: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition

Best plan of action: Play the Scarlett O'Hara angle! "She was going to kill you! Kyrie, what could I do? *sob*"
Of course, this is V we're talking about. Watch him struggle to explain himself logically.

I wonder--if the other 2 splices are lost, does V's appearance go back to normal? I would presume so, but I don't know.

Re: OOTS #641 - The Discussion Thread
So, is it wrong to assume that the Necromancer's spirit will attempt to find the most powerful caster in the region (likely Vaarsuvius's mentor) and possess him/her?

and V's mate Kyrie appears to be reacting in a pretty realistic way for a Good or non-evil D&D character.

Re: OOTS #641 - The Discussion Thread
Nah, I think it would be much more fun if...(Epileptic Tree coming up)
Spoilershe somehow gets tangled up with Doctor Grubbwiggler (Or whatever, the Frankenstein parody), and he puts her soul in Belkar's recently deceased body. Her necromantic know-how keeps his body moving, but Belkar is able to establish control, without Epic Necromantic Spellcasting."They couldn't know that the points from the mainline to the siding were frozen, and the signal should have been set at 'DANGER', but snow had forced it down."

Re: OOTS #641 - The Discussion Thread
I think it's cool that we're seeing another shade of V's personality here: a complete inability to lie to his mate. If anyone else were asking those questions, V would brush them off, or give some not answer that's not exactly the truth. With Kyrie, V can't help but spill the beans. Even if he does it in a very roundabout, diplomatically worded way that's highly reminiscent of a six year old being interrogated about how the rug got covered in ink.
