    Default evolution in the playground

Similar to VUAX this is an experiment where I post three versions of a creature that are each slightly different and you chose one to go on to the next round and I make three different versions of that and so on. Suggestions for next round mutations welcome

I pick V2 as well. I don't know 3.X stats very well, so I rolled a d6 and divided by two. Hey, evolution certainly has an element of chance, I'm just here to represent that.

    Yes they are.
I might try another seed monster next time but these looked simple.

Middle guy's +5ft speed will let him run away from anything faster than his friends who get eaten. That extra HP doesn't do #3 any good.

    I vote #2.

As for mutation recommendations, give these guys a means of survival other than running away. Or make that better. Light-speed rat swarms! No one is safe!

From what I can see the mutations are

    v1 - darkvision
    v2 - extra speed
    v3 - extra HP

based on that I'll vote for v3, that seems like an important aspect to try and raise up fairly quickly.

#2 should get some sort of poison or disease ability. It could poison prey, run away and then feast on the remains. Maybe give it Scent or a racial bonus to Survival checks when tracking poisoned prey.

You're going to need to be patient, these contests usually take at least two days per stage. People aren't on the forum all day.

Regardless, the forces of chance have decreed that V1 shall be victorious.

Ooh that's what v3's difference is. I couldn't tell, because the damage modifier wasn't changed.

I think I'll vote for version 3, because I don't like disease (sticks around too long. Poison is okay, though), and I don't really like Dodge on a monster.
