    UTFG

Short answer, about 2 US tons for a lightweight SUV like a Ford Explorer.

Other brands, models, and equipment may vary this.

SUVs are Huge, I'd say. Longer than 10', and weighing in at several tons, they definitely don't occupy a 10'x10' fighting space. The Ford Explorer (depending on year and style) is about 15 feet long and around 6 feet wide.

    I just checked the SRD.
Large size creatures can be 16 feet long and weight up to 2 tons.

10 by 10 is a hundred square feet. 15 by 6 is only 90 square feet.

So i guess its on the upper end of a Large creature.

Yeah, pretty much. A HORSE is a Large creature, so I'd say an SUV has to be Huge.

The d20 Modern SRD also agrees with that. The Ford Escape and Chevy Suburban are both Huge. The only Large cars/vehicles on the list are the Chevy Cavalier and Dodge Neon.

EDIT: Of course, I think d20Modern is based on pseudo-3.0 rules instead of normal 3.5, since most of the cars take up a 2x3 space instead of 3x3, but I don't think it makes much difference.

Eh, it's not that popular of a game (or, at least, I don't think it is), so it doesn't get a lot of attention, and of the few versions of it I've seen floating around the internet, most aren't complete anyway. I don't know how I stumbled across it (it was a few years ago), but I keep it bookmarked just in case someone asks a question like yours.

According to the Vehicle table in D20 Modern, all SUV are Huge.

They're pretty much in that range that's in the upper end of large and the lower end of huge... Personally, I'd call them huge.

Size categories double each time. So the rule of thumb is - "does it occupy as much ground space as four guys in armor swinging swords?" Answer in this case - "yeah, probably." It's very definitely twice the size of a horse, at any rate.
