Are you sure you mean mundane (i.e., non-magical) gear?

Because of the way the D&D 3rd Edition Epic spellcasting rules are based on the Spellcraft skill, the one mundane piece of gear you'll want is a masterwork tool of Epic spellcasting checks for a +2 circumstance bonus on Spellcraft. If instead you mean non-Epic gear, the item to have is a +30 skill bonus (competence) booster for Spellcraft. That's the maximum before the huge Epic price increase kicks in.

These items stack, of course.

Edit: If you mean D&D 4.0, I don't have a clue.
