    biggrin Fun with Gestalt!

My group is running a Gestalt adventure for the first time. I've convinced my DM that if I take a prestige class like Eldrich Knight+Sorcerer, the "+1 existing arcane spellcasting" stacks with whatever my Caster Level was before. (call it my Charisma score of 18+)

This would result in such a character casting spells far more powerful then they would usually have access to. (This also works with Divine Casters)

Ex: A 15th level character who took 10 levels in Sorcerer-Fighter who then took 5 levels of Eldrich Knight-Sorcerer would up his caster level by 10 over the course of those 5 levels.

Given this premise, what's the most broken progression that anyone can come up with?

(Please keep it to what's within the 3 Core rulebooks, Complete Adventurer, Complete Warrior, Exemplairs of Evil, Player's Guide to Eberron, and Cityscape. Those are all I own. If it's really broken, maybe Complete Divine or Arcane, but I'd have to borrow those)

Yes, I know this is powergaming and probably goes against the rules of gestalt, but just role with it.

This is very clearly and unambiguously stated to be against the rules of gestalt and you are likely to be called out on by your DM before it even sees play if he decides to read the gestalt rules at all.

Aside from that, I can't really think of anything that would add much to it. Obviously losing a caster level for Eldritch Knight is inadvisable, but there are any number of good casting prestige classes that lose nothing at all. The normal awesome ones will remain awesome, but maybe lessened because you'll finish your casting progression partway through the ones with more than 5 levels.
    • Chameleon Base Class [3.5]/[PF]: A versatile, morphic class that mimics one basic party role (warrior, caster, sneak, etc) at a time. If you find yourself getting bored of any class you play too long, the Chameleon is for you!
    • Warlock Power Sources [3.5]: Making Hellfire Warlock part of the base class and providing other similar options for Warlocks whose powers don't come from devils.

I have specifically talked to him about this issue, and he has decided to allow it, for whatever reasons.

    Two questions.

What's a Beguiler do? What's a basic outline of their abilities?

    And what's "UM"?

    Wizard/Arcane Heirophant//Druid/Mystic Theurge?

EDIT: UM is Ultimate Magus, and Beguiler is full casting that is also Int based and spontaneous. Quite useful.

Check out the Omnicaster and, from earlier in the same very fun thread, Fax's Merged Theurge.
    You can call me Draz.

Quoting for emphasis. Your DM deserves it.

Can't take 2 PrC's at the same time in Gestalt.

Go with sorcerer on one side, then monk 2, paladin (LN variant) 2, Hexblade 3 on the other side, and pick up ascetic monk.

Full cha-based casting, charisma to armor class, charisma to all saves, charisma again to all saves vs spells, evasion and mettle (no partial effect on successful fortitude or will save). Probably not the best thing you could do (especially with such a easily convinced DM), but it's a fairly simple full caster with greatly improved survivability and some more options than casting spells (pointless as it may be from a powergaming point of view)
    Yay!

No no, the best thing you can do here is to start as Barbarian//Wizard. Then become a Rage Mage//Greenstar Adept, staggering the levels you gain a Caster Level at so you get full caster level. Then you can lose your Con as a barbarian, and be really angry! There's no downside!

Am I allowed to post an interesting Gestalt combination that isn't broken, or are you only looking for pure cheese? I'd hate to be off topic.

This. It's a question of how powerful the group is going to be to determine what will be a good option. Warblade/Wizard is nice, not broken. Archivist/Wizard will require massive bookkeeping and become the most versatile thing since Pun-Pun. Factotum/Wizard will make the DM cry.

The choice depends on what the party is doing. A Rogue/Barbarian at low levels can dish out major damage, while a PsyWar/Cloistered Cleric will make the Tarrasque beg for mercy, and your Factotum look positively restrained. Artificer/Warblade, well...let's just say there are some things that CoDzilla is afraid of.

I play primarily 3.5 D&D. Most of my advice will be based off of this. If my advice doesn't apply, specify a version in your post.
