Default New spell - Extradimensional Appetite (PEACH)

    Extradimensional Appetite
    Conjuration (Creation)
    Level: Bard 1, Sorc/Wiz 1
    Components: V
    Casting Time: 1 standard action
    Range: Personal
    Effect: Extradimensional "stomach" space
Duration: 2 hours, then 2 weeks
    Saving Throw: None
    Spell Resistance: No

The caster gains the use of an extradimensional pocket that can be used to store food. Once cast, its primary duration lasts for 2 hours. During this time, any food that enters the caster's mouth can be mentally to either his normal stomach or the extradimensional one. If it is placed in the storage pocket, it is held in stasis until released. The pocket will not accept any magical material, whether food, liquid, or any other object.

After the primary duration has expired, the pocket will no longer accept food, but begins its secondary function. For the next two weeks, the caster can, as a free action by, open a conduit to his extradimensional pocket, mentally releasing the preserved and unchewed food back into his mouth, where he can eat it as if it was fresh in front of him. Upon the conclusion of the secondary duration, any food remaining in the pocket is gone forever. If the spell ends prematurely (though the use of dispel magic or such), food inside the pocket are likewise gone.

A person under the effect of this spell can pass through or interact with other extradimensional spaces normally. However, if he attempts to open the conduit to the pocket dimension while inside the other extradimensional pocket, an explosive reaction occurs. This ends the spell and forces all remaining material inside the pocket into the caster's mouth, regardless of how much space there is to fill.

This spell does not augment the caster's digestive system in any way - he cannot swallow larger things that his mouth would normally accomodate, nor can he digest otherwise indigestible objects; he merely has additional space in which to store the food.

Material Component: A piece of preserved stomach from an animal that possesses multiples of such, such as a cow or sheep.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, whadda ya think? I made it a level 1 spell instead of a cantrip because it does actually have some useful applications. For example, a character might "swallow" lockpicks or keys or something, only to "regurgitate" them later. Plus, it's great fun at parties, or eating contests.

Sounds extremely useful for those long adventures where you know your equipment may be lost, or if you don't want to carry a medium load, but some of your equipment is more valuable than food and the like.

    two thumbs up.

Also rather useful if you've been invited to dinner and suspect your host of trying to poison you.

What happens if you fell into a portable hole or entered any other sort of extradimensional space?

What of a dispel magic of greater dispel magic being cast on one who was under this spell?

Can you preserve live animals using the method? For instance, if you put a mouse in your mouth, could you will it to stasis? What if you grappled a tiny fey creature?

What if you eat a living creature? is it in stasis or does it die of axphiliation? also, can only food be stored or could you keep weapons etc. in there?

If you eat a living creature, unless it is bite sized, it will be put in the space piece by piece, so it will be dead. As for weapons, I'd say no. Just so you don't abuse the spell too much (or lose the weapon if you forget about it)

Dispel magic...hmmm....I'll add a provisio that if the spell ends prematurely, items inside are also lost.

As for portable holes and such - RAW, there wouldn't be any problem - officially, only portable holes and Bags of Holding don't like each other. For since a lot of people house-rule otherwise, I'll include the following:

A person under the effect of this spell can pass through or interact with other extradimensional spaces normally. However, if he attempts to open the conduit to the pocket dimension while inside the other extradimensional pocket, an explosive reaction occurs. This ends the spell and forces all remaining material inside the pocket into the caster's mouth, regardless of how much space there is to fill.

That way, there's no problem - unless you try to withdraw stuff inside a Portable Hole. Kaboom?

Like people said, a living creature would have to be bite-sized or smaller to work with the spell. If it is, it's held in stasis like anything else. Be careful not to swallow it when withdrawn, though. :D Ditto on the weapons - though they'd have to be really tiny, like shruikens - again, be REALLY careful "withdrawing" the item in question... ;D :o

Oh man, you could have so much fun with that spell.

For example, while no one is looking, swallow a whole bunch of maggots. At some point in the future, at the point where you judge that it would be the most humorous, loudly annouce that you are in fact the Demon Lord of Corruption in disguise, and then start spewing the maggots out.

or drink a ton of cure potions, and then, when you are in serious trouble, transfer them into your mouth so that you can drink as a free action without item retrival

Excellent point. As of now and forward, the pocket dimension will not accept liquids without something containing them.

That limitation wouldn't bother any creature that is capable of chewing through and digesting glass without significant damage. Can dragons handle that kind of thing?

There is probably also some way to contain a cure potion inside a pouch or shell that is digestable by humanoids. Freezing the liquid or at least encasing it inside a layer of ice might work too.

There are things like 'pill' and similar options. It seems like a simpler solution would be to simply state that the spell cannot store any magical food or drink. having a 'no liquid' restriction doesn't make too much sense and you'd still have to worry about the possible abuse of goodberries, hero's feasts, and so on.

It would still allow the 'rapid drinking' of alchemical concotions like antivenom, but I think that's a valid creative use of the spell.

Or you could just have magical stuff corrupt after a few hours/days/weeks.

Okay, that's a better solution - the pocket will not accept magical items or ingredients.
