Re: How small is fine?
That sounds about right. Diminutive is for insects, pretty much.

Re: How small is fine?
When looking at the greatest physical dimension (height for bipeds, length for quad+peds): Medium is between 4' and 8', Small is between 2' and 4', Tiny is between 1' and 2', Diminutive is between 0.5' and 1', and Fine is anything less than 0.5'.
Similarly, Large is between 8' and 16', Huge is between 16' and 32', Gargantuan is between 32' and 64', and Colossal is anything greater than 64'.
So Fine size basically covers everything from miniscule insects up to very small (as in child-size) rodents. Or gold coins and small jewelry items.Last edited by KillianHawkeye; 2009-06-08 at 06:25 AM.

Re: How small is fine?
Oddly, the spiders, locusts, and centipedes in swarms are listed as Diminutive, not Fine. They're apparently about as big as bats! They must be some fairly large specimens.
None of the core monsters appear to be Fine, but you can search the Monster Index for example of Fine creatures. (Just Ctrl+F "Fine".) As one might expect, they're most often encountered in swarms.

Re: How small is fine?
Well, the PHB example for fine is a fly. So, yeah. They're pretty small.

Re: How small is fine?
My girlfriend told me not to worry.
It's fine how it is, no matter how small it is.

Re: How small is fine?
Rule of thumb - each size category up doubles in size. Humans are 5-6 feet, so that's your standard for Medium. A Small humanoid would be around 2.5-3 feet, a Tiny humanoid would be 1.25-1.5 feet, a Fine humanoid would be 6-9", and a Diminutive humanoid would be 3-5".... or smaller, since that's the last category.
Works reasonably well, but isn't exact.

Re: How small is fine?
Fine is anything cat-sized or smaller. Because a cat is fine too...
