Game Idea: Tomb of Horrors BINGO!
Step 1: Get everyone to make a TON of character sheets. Probably around 10 or so, though some people may make more. Hand them all to the DM, and the DM shuffles and randomly gives them out.
Step 2: Make a variety of Terrible Death bingo cards. Included on the cards should be things like:
"Crushed to death"
"Burned to death in lava"
"Completely unmade"
"Disintegrated"
"Death by critical hit"
"Killed by a Demilich"
"Fell into a pit trap"
"KOBOLDS!"
"Shouldn't have done that."
"Should have done that, but didn't."
"Should have done that, did, and still didn't survive."
"Made it down two stair levels with one character"
"Natural 1 on saving throw"
Step 3: Run Tomb of Horrors. Be vicious. Any time a character dies, the next character sheet in the stack is handed to him and said character just randomly appears in the nearest safe place.
Step 4: First person to get a Bingo doesn't have to pitch in for the pizza for the entire next campaign, or similar other reward.
EDIT:: Step 5 (optional) : If your gaming group hates their liver, you could try taking a shot every time your character dies, too.
EDIT2:: Some one pointed out that you would probably end up with players going "I dive headlong into the lava." In situations like these [intentional death effects], the death does not count for you but counts for every one else.

Pffft, they should try Dwarf Fortress then.
In Adventure Mode, it's entirely possible to find a priest (A PRIEST!!!!!) who says
SpoilerWhen you wake up in the morning, consider suicide.
And if you do, it will be a mercy.
(On the other hand, you'd be depriving the world of murdered elves, so you'd also have to be a greedy expletive to do that!)
