1. Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

To save time, with Saph's permission, I copy the premise here.

Since we're short on DMs, we'll do this by the honour system. You run your character, I run mine. On your turn, you declare your actions and attacks. It's up to the player in question to acknowledge when they're hit/hurt/incapacitated and to mention relevant info from their character sheet. Put all information that the opposing PC shouldn't know in a spoiler, like this:

Squares are 5 feet each. C represents column positions, running floor to ceiling. Walls and columns are stone, with coral accents. There are exits at F1/G1 and F12/G12, not that it matters unless you want to retreat. Ceiling is 30 feet high. There's a 10' square tunnel at F6-G6-F7-G7 that goes up another 30 feet.

This arena has been chosen because it's the one I fought in in the Test of Might, and thus I was able to copy/paste it in 15 seconds. If you'd like a different map, go right ahead, but you have to do the work of supplying it. :P (Oh, and the original map was underwater, but I've left that part out, unless you'd rather I kept it.)

Starting positions: You pick a starting square in row 1 or 2, I pick a starting square in row 11 or 12, chess style.

Buff time: Both characters have all-day effects active (ie any effect that lasts a full adventuring day of 12 hours or more), but get no preparation rounds. I think this is the fairest option, as it represents a normal adventuring encounter reasonably well and it's a compromise between no buffs and full buffs.

Both parties are aware that there's an enemy in the vicinity and are considered to be in combat.

Since we don't have a DM, rules adjudications and queries will be handled by mutual agreement. If we can't agree on something, we'll either settle on a compromise, flip a coin, or call in an arbiter.

Match ends when one character concedes & withdraws from combat, dies, or is similarly rendered unable to continue.

I think that's about it. Any challengers, post below, and let's have some fun. :)

My Initiative: (1d20+1)[17]

9. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Alright, I now have the permission from Tidesinger.

Initiative:
(1d20+15)[34]

Positions (on the 11-12 line):
Spoiler
C11.

10. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

I think that it means that I start.

Actions:
Spoiler
Activate the Robe of Scintillating colors - standard action to speak the command word. Stay at C11.

Your turn. No LoS at the moment, I believe. If you move to a position where you can see behind the southern columns, you see my character in
Spoiler
C11

If you can see only the columns themselves, you can see light coming from behind the column on the left.

Description, if you gain Line of Sight:
Spoiler
Before you stands a goblin - small, but by the standards of the race, fairly large. He is wearing a robe of some sort of dazzling red color, and is wielding a short sword. The robe sheds light in a 30 ft radius.

11. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Actions:
Spoiler
I'll cast Life Ward and stay where I am

If you get to see behind the columns on my side, then you'll see me at
Spoiler
D2

Description:
Spoiler
You see a slightly tall, skinny man, with skin so pale it looks almost white, wrapped tightly around his body. His eyes are a colour such a light blue, they look like they're glowing white.

12. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Actions:
Spoiler
Move action to move to E11. Swift action to Shadow Blink to E2. Further actions later.

Not done yet. With a poof, a goblin appears in the square E2. You may open the description for my character now, if you have LoS there. I'll go now check your position from your previous post, if you don't mind.

13. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

No further actions. Lucky me; I first though to 5-foot step and teleport to the other side. Your turn.

14. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Well, this is awkward. Ok then, i'll move to C5, and cast Invisibility.
You see the man run around behind the pillar, and hear him wording out the components of a spell.
Feel free to take your AoO.

15. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Attack of Opportunity:
(1d20+24)[39]
Damage:
(1d4+11)[13]

If it hits, you also take 1 point of Constitution damage. My round will follow shortly.

16. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Actions (not visible, I guess):
Spoiler

Activate Dual Stance: Child of Shadow and Hearing the Air.

Activate Winged Boots, gain flight.

The small goblin suddenly takes flight, moving swiftly. Movement, broken down to pieces:
- E2 --> B2
- B2 --> B5
- B5 --> E8
- E8 --> F8

Let me know if Drelaght - that's his name - at any point comes within 30 ft of your character. He will then change his movement to move as close as possible. He has Blindsight 30 ft. If you can see him, you also notice the colors of his robe start swirling wildly, and shadows surround him, flickering. A 30 ft radius halo of light follows him.

17. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Wait, you're Ratflail? Anyway, I took my turn already.

18. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Sorry, I share a PC with Melamoto, he must have stayed logged on. Anyway; what I said applies. I take 8 damage. You see me at C5 with your Blindsight. Were you going to do anything if you saw me, or were you just going to carry on moving there?

19. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Movement stops at B4, then. At the beginning of your turn, make a Will save DC 16 or be Dazed for (1d4+1)[3] rounds. This is a mind-affecting pattern effect, delivered as a Gaze attack, but if I recall correct, in the beginning post of Test of Spite thread it is stated at that this game, undead are not immune to mind-affecting.

20. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Ok then, I'll use Divine Fortune, so I have a +16 on the save. Only a Natural 1 will fail me. (1d20)[12]

21. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Oh, and a slight mistake on my part: he has Blindsense, not Blindsight. My apologies.

22. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

My move: I'll move to B10 and use Bestow Curse (Divine Metamagic (Reach Spell)). My attack roll with the touch spell: (1d20+4)[20]

23. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Ok then, if it's Blindsense, I don't know whether he saw me. Ah well, it doesn't matter now. So, if you have touch AC 20 or lower, then make a Will save (DC 20). If you fail, you take the -4 to rolls effect.

24. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

He did, I think. He just has to roll for concealment. Blindsense.

Oh, and the touch attack missed. Are you visible now?

25. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

...I shot a ray at you. So yes, I'm visible.

26. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Alright, so now I can start talking business. I really dreaded rolling those missing chances.

Moving next to his enemy, the little goblin screams out loud: "Rabid Bear Strike!"

Attack roll:
(1d20+28)[33]
Damage:
(1d4+11)[13] + (10d6)[31]

At the beginning of your turn, make a Will save DC 16, or be Dazed for (1d4+1)[2].

EDIT: Your turn, by the way.

27. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

Even with the low save, a multiple round daze effect that you can use repeatedly seems a little overkill. (1d20+16)[26] Divine Favour.

28. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

I'll let you know what it is after the match. It's one of those things that I've been looking forward to using for a long time.

29. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

I'll take a 5-foot step away from you, and cast a Divine Spell Powered (1d20+6)[16] Mirror Image.

30. Re: Test of Spite: Adumbration vs Ratflail

(1d4+4)[8] Mirror Images will appear.
