Theme Music For A Tragic Hero
That's right, it's time to start up my old "Leliel's Battle Theme Ideas" .
This particular one is for a tragic hero who became a villain after falling to his fatal flaw, and now serves as the final boss of the campaign.
I give you...Dirge of The Fourteenth! Which is really appropriate since its the battle music of a downright pitable villain if there ever was one.My Homestuck role is Thane of Space of the Land of Insanity and Frogs.
The Malkavians would be proud.

Re: Theme Music For A Tragic Hero
Depends rather on thier fatal flaw, now don't it?
Someone whose pride got the better of them who forgot the rule of not to consume any energy field bigger than their head, might have a theme that sounds more boastful sounding. One who sacrificed all, including their morality and humanity, for love, and still failed, ala Mr. Freeze, would have a different theme altogether, bitter and tragic perhaps. One who defeated the monster and in so doing became them, would have a different theme yet again.

Re: Theme Music For A Tragic Hero
I'm sure you can find a few dozen metal songs about fallen angels.
But yeah, it would help to have a more specific hamartia. The following errors occurred with your search:

Re: Theme Music For A Tragic Hero
Mozarts Requiem Mass in D minor would be perfect for the tragic hero who goes to fight an impossible foe, in my opinion.

Re: Theme Music For A Tragic Hero
i always find music from the game "Planescape: Torment" to be quite good. atmospheric, foreboding, but not too distracting from the game.

I'd always though Dead Boy's Poem by Nightwish would be a good choice.

Re: Theme Music For A Tragic Hero
The music from Valkyrie Profile's pretty good. Mostly atmospheric though.

Re: Theme Music For A Tragic Hero
If it's specifically music for the final showdown, then this would be great. Personally i think it would suit for a fight between former friends.
In a war it doesn't matter who's right, only who's left.

Re: Theme Music For A Tragic Hero
I second music from Planescape:Torment.
Just listen to i.e. Deionarra's Theme (here in a loop, the song is about 1:28 long).
Edit: Maybe that one doesn't fit as battle music, but there are other, more fitting songs on the soundtrack.Last edited by Amiria; 2009-06-25 at 04:22 AM.

Re: Theme Music For A Tragic Hero
The theme Leliel chose works pretty well, I think. As usual, I had a good SRW theme for this occassion... except that I can't find it anywhere on youtube. So have some Persona instead.
Heartful Cry
The Almighty
Siela Tempo by the talented Kasanip. Tengu by myself.

Duel of the Fates always works, even the Episode II non-choral version.

Theme from the 70s Incredible Hulk television series...seriously, how much more tragic can you get?
