Question. Has anyone had a good experience with smoke grenades? I'm wondering if popping just before exiting the vehicle or before going through a
hatch would interfere with the bad guys' aim.

I'm sure everyone who isn't a red shirt is just thrilled at the various screams as we get shot in the face, but redshirts are still $40K to hire. It adds up after a while. Especially if they're wearing armor which needs to be replaced. Every hour the engineers are building armor is an hour they're not spending to build psi-amps.

Psi amps cost Elerium. They're custom order jobbies, to say the least. One per above 80 psi specialist.

And grenades help, but really, Lopez does the same job of checking out the landing pad for free.

I've never had much success with smoke grenades either. It always winds up biting me in the ass because the aliens can see me while I can't see them

So, I took the liberty of doing some character art for our little team. It's mainly how I imagine each of these characters as they are portrayed in Chiasaur's posts. Though I shamelessly used the head from my BRC avvy for mine. Here's the first batch.

You know, I got into this X-Com thing mainly because I figured that, if I survive, they'd possibly make me an ambassador (aka dude with no direct supervision and diplomatic immunity) in a country which I helped clear of alien terrorists while, if it's not too much of a hassle, even saving a civilian life maybe.

But the prospect of being immortalized like that has a lot going for it as well.

Awesome. Awesome. (Laser rifles/pistols have always been my favorite weapons. Pistols especially because of how many times a trooper with decent time units can full auto.)
