Plus, Knight could order a Skyranger to personally chase you down and deliver a 'discipline squad'. Or him. Either way. Stun rods.

It wasn't me who was checking out the mind-twisting folder, it was Kane.
But you know, from what he said.... Hmm...., the only reason time travel can't happen is because it hasn't already happened, but if it were to happen, it would be possible because it would have happened... And he who controls the past controls the future...
Uh, excuse me, I need to go place a lock on a certain folder and get some graph paper. I need to go plot out some world domination goodness."Simon Ten Broek loves to draw attention;
Simon Ten Broek spent years in bleak detention;
Simon Ten Broek, with crimes too vile to mention;
Simon Ten Broek won't live to see his pension."

See? He's thinking time travel is possible now. Obviously, his mind is completely gone. Like I said, don't even look at the citrine folder. Ever.

Wait, there are differently-colored folders? I'm bad at differentiating between colors in darkness, so I never noticed - I just check them as they go when I need something. Never noticed anything too weird.
Hmm, that might explain a thing or two about me...

The Return!
I paced outside the door to the workshop. It'd been a few hours. I'd seen good men die in the field. Got a few shots to the chest myself. But this was worse. Everyone loved Lopez. He was the glue that held the team together. Well, that wasn't entirely true. Psychic powers and death threats did a lot of the work.
But Lopez was still the best man we had.
"What's the prognosis, Doc?"
Cubey peeked his head out.
"Well, it was pretty touch and go for a bit. Chumbley managed to get some parts from those two Hoverdisks in LA. Mostly intact, except for the main cannon. And we had that spare ship mounted heavy plasma..."
"Skip that. Lopez going to be alright?"
"Well, he should. Mostly. I mean, we'll need a couple of weeks to test..."
"I know Lopez. He'd want to go back to killing immediately. And frankly, with that battleship landed, we need him more than ever. I wish he could recover, but we're a bit low on time."
I headed out in the hall, passing a number of "Get well soon" and "In loving memory" posters. Nice to see the troops caring about something.
"Good news, everyone. We're assaulting a Snakeman battleship. Bigger than anything we've seen, it should have weapons beyond our knowledge, and the best soldiers the aliens can deploy."
"I thought you said you had good news."
"Lopez is spearheading the mission. On the bounce."
We landed as silently as possible. Snakes might be bringing Chryssalids, and not alerting them seems a good idea.
Numerous seemed more shocked than the rest of the squad.
"He's, he's alive? I saw him totaled. "
"Miracles of modern science, dirtbag. Seems Cubey can do some good work when he's not fantasing about Samus Aran."
Lopez charged for the ship's central lift.
Trazoi seemed non plussed
"*&(*. Lopez dying ONCE was one time too many. He acquired a death wish?"
I watched the feed. Hate to see a good man like Lopez go mad, especially with the firepower he was packing. But I trusted Lopez enough to give him a chance.
A good decision.
"Tengu, BRC, Lopez grabbed a couple of Snakemen packing blaster bombs. Control 'em and bring them here. "
"Got them. One's a Commander, sir. Might have some good information."
Excellent news, that.
"Good. Have Slaanesh deal with any others nearby while you bring those two over here. Fiddler, Numerous? Stunsticks out."
Ah. Might not have been the best idea. 'lid right there. Trazoi managed to down it, though. Which made Snakeman recovery a lot easier.
Lopez and I returned to the ship to finish the job. Seems somebody up there couldn't fire a Blaster Bomb right. Easy mop up.
And we got a Blaster Launcher. Cubey would be very happy.Remember how I was wishing for the peace of oblivion a minute ago?

Heeeeeee'sss bbbaaaaaccckkkk...
I can count the number of times I've seen an alien use the Blaster Launcher successfully on one hand. It's gotten to the point where I don't even worry when I see one, because 10 to 1 says the alien is going to blow himself up with it.

Re: Hey, everybody else has started a let's play and abandoned it. Lets Play X-Com!
WeI brought Lopez back to life, you captured a Commander and brought back home a Blaster Launcher for me to play with.
This is the best update ever!
Now, if I only could remember if assaulting a landed Battleship is enough to stop Alien Infiltration, or is it too late and their infiltrators are out already - one country's funding lost. I'm a bit fuzzy on the details, I guess we won't know until the end of the month.
But hey, we have an active Laser Cannon factory. Who needs funding?
