    Default Skill Points, 3.5

Is there a way to increase the maximum amount of ranks you can have in a skill above char level + 3?

A feat does it in Cityscape, but it requires another feat and for you to be a member of a guild. And it only adds +1.

Bloodlines do increase the skill rank limits though.

I believe bloodlines can be found in Unearthed Arcana.

No, you cannot. Skill ranks are often used to qualify for Prestige Classes, and thus you cannot go around the char level + 3 limit.

IIRC, Bloodlines give you a Skill bonus, not a bonus to maximum ranks.

BAB is often used to qualify for prestige classes. So are spell levels. there are ways around both (Kensai, Ur-Priest). Why would skill ranks be different.

Actually, the Cityscape one (Primary Contact) legitimately gives you 1 more rank in a skill, even if it's above your maximum.

Any feat that increases ranks (not bonus) and base attack (not a bonus to attack) sound incredibly broken. You can potentially pick up powerful prestige classes (like shadowdancer with its hide-in-plain-sight at level 1 ability) and get more than 1 attack earlier than normal.

Wasting two feats and a lot of time haggling with the DM for an organization to accept and provide benefits to my character doesn't seem worth getting into any PrC a level earlier. It's one of those absolutely useless campaign-dependent feats - you have to know about it beforehand in detail, but you can't plan for it because you can't depend on it coming up in normal circumstances. Those sort of things need to be handled on the fly by the DM, but feats related to them need to be carefully researched.
