    Default Touch Spells and Smiting!

    Hey quick question for the playground! (I did seach first)

    How would the smiting spell feat (PHB II) react with touch spells that give you multiple touches? Such as chill touch.

    Thanks!

    It's all gone on the first touch.

    Then what about with many shot and multiple arrows?

    There's no effect. Smiting Spell only works with a weapon you hold. Unless you bash someone with a bow, the spell never discharges.

    You may be under the mistaken impression that magical enhancements transfer the magic from bow to arrow. There is no such rule. There are only specific enhancements that transfer their properties. Each one of them must have a line like this:

    Without such a line in the description for a magical enhancement, no magic is ever transferred.

    Try thrown weapons, Bloodstorm Blade 2 to pick up Thunderous Throw, and Master Thrower for Palm Throw.

    Warmind 5's Sweeping Strike also comes to mind.

    Do note that the spell discharges fully on the first thrown weapon, even if it misses the target.

    The spell can be cast on ammunition however, and manyshot is considered one attack so "discharges after strike" shoudn't be an issue (because they strike as one).

    Theory being;
    cast spell, grab 4 arrows, as the spell allows for multiple touches it goes into each arrow grabbed. then fire the 4 arrows and the spell discharges.

    It looks like Manyshot would be the sole exception to the single use of Smiting Spell, when coupled with a multi-touch spell like Chill Touch. As it uses a single attack, the spell would discharge on all the projectiles simultaneously.
