GLoG XXXV: There shall be happiness!!!

The ferret bows his head slightly. Quinn, I take it? His telepathic voice is low, calm, definitely male. Not squeaky like one might expect. I met a guy at the taverna, named...Douglas, I believe? Anyway, he claimed to have found a powerful artifact capable of killing lots of people and that he would sell it to the highest bidder. His nose twitches. And then he implied that I was a thief - the nerve! He paws his whiskers as he snuggles against Misaki's neck. There was someone there interested in stealing or bidding it - said they didn't want to kill LOTS of people, just a few to show they were serious. A shapeshifter, I think. Smells like the forest and everything good in it. Calls itself Marcos as a male, Amira as a female. He thinks of something else. And then I saw a YOUNGER Marcos here. I don't get it.

Ah, I love the smell of fried brains in the morning. Smells like...meltdown!


Quinn closes her eyes and pinches the bridge of her nose in the classic TMI-too-early expression. And seizes on one, simple thing, for starters.
I don't think Marcos can shapeshift. Sure it's the same one?

Misaki listens and giggles a bit as her neck is nuzzled.

[Dirk Kris]

The ferret shrugs. Looked and sounded like him. Smelled the same.

[The Bushranger]

Great. Two of Tobias, and now two of Marcos?
Quinn rubs her eyes and sighs.
I need a shower. Can we talk more about this after, please?

[Neon Knight]

"Okay. I'll go make your breakfast for when you get done!" Misaki turned and skipped back to the kitchen.

[Dirk Kris]

The ferret hops down, looking at Quinn. Why wait? Isn't this a matter of urgent importance? Come on - don't tell me you're shy! I'm a freakin' ferret, and I'm pretty sure you don't have anything I haven't seen before. Amusement tinges his voice.

[The Bushranger]

Quinn narrows her eyes at the ferret, although amusedly.
It is fairly urgent - however there's not much I can do half-asleep. And maybe you have seen it before, but I'm spoken for. Now shoo! She chuckles and then heads for the shower.

Which will be a bit of a long one, as BR has to head off from the library in a few minutes...

Meridian shrugs and heads out to find Misaki.

Misaki is back in the kitchen, fixing up some breakfast for Quinn.

The ferret twitches his nose. Methinks she'll be a while. That deadtime goo got her.

[Neon Knight]

"Awww..." Misaki stopped her preparations and sat down on the kitchen table.

[Dirk Kris]

So why did your mom send you here?

[Chas the mage]

the 3 imperial soldiers enter and plop down in the great room...

Miskai propped her chin up on her elbows and regarded the ferret. "Oh, something's going on in my hometown. Mom's taking care of it, but she said it was safer for me to stay here for a while."

[Dirk Kris]

I take it you don't really like it here? You seem...disappointed. Meridian paws at his whiskers, then scampers forward and gives the tip of Misaki's nose a ferretty kiss.

[Neon Knight]

Misaki giggled at the kiss, pulling back her head and shaking it. "No, I really like it here! Well, sometimes there are monsters and it's scary. But usually it's a lot of fun and Quinn is great!" Misaki smiled, but her smile did fall a bit. "I do miss Mama, though..."

[Dirk Kris]

Meridian changes the subject. What do you do for fun? Do you have a room? Can I stay there? I keep worrying I'm gonna fall asleep in the wrong spot and someone's gonna squoosh me.

[Neon Knight]

Misaki giggled again at the rapid fire stream of questions. "Well, usually I sleep in Quinn's room. I'm sure you cans tay here 'cause you're so cute." She reached out to pet the ferret with surprising gentleness and restraint for an active child. "For fun? Lots of things! Make flower wreaths, go swimming, watch movies, go exploring..."

[Dirk Kris]

The ferret's eyes twinkle with amusement. Flower wreaths? That might be fun to try.

[Neon Knight]

"Okay. Let's go to the Rose Garden!" She offered her arm so that he could climb up onto her shoulder.

[Dirk Kris]

Meridian scurries up, glad for the ride. He breathes deeply as they enter the Rose Garden. It smells wonderful in here! Think you can make one small enough for me? We can be King and Queen of the garden!

[Neon Knight]

Misaki gave him yet another giggle. "I'll try!" Misaki started to gather what she needed, picking the best flower she could find.

[Dirk Kris]

The ferret noses around, checking out the various plants and digging a little in the dirt just to see if there's anything in it.

[Neon Knight]

Having found what she needed, Misaki began to work stems and blooms into two wreaths, one sized for her head, the other eyeballed to roughly try and fit the ferret's crown. If she messed up, it would probably fit around his neck, anyway.

Meridian scrambles up Misaki's arm to her shoulder, then onto her head, to watch her work.

[Neon Knight]

Misaki hums happily as she works, very familiar with the process. She finishes the ferret wreath first and tries tor each up and crown him while he's on her head, you guessed it, giggling.

[Dirk Kris]

The crown fits much like a child wearing his father's hat. Meridian ends up with the wreath on his head, falling down over his eyes so he has to lift his head up to see. He hops onto Misaki's shoulder. How do I look?

[Neon Knight]

"Cute as a button!" Misaki finished her own wreath and crowned herself, giggling and smiling at the ferret on her shoulder.

[Dirk Kris]

Meridian grins, then stops and tilts his head to the side. Sorry, kiddo. Duty calls. Gotta go to work. Listen, can I keep this? And later on we can have a coronation parade, alright?
