Default Ways for undead to get turning immunity [3.5]

K, so I may be running in an evil campaign and will probably play something undead. Now, how could I make myself immune to turning/rebuking? I sure as hell don't want the evil cleric in the party gaining control of my char, thus making me roll a new one...

"Hey, guy who's going to play a cleric."
    "Yeah?"
    "We're buds, right?"
    "Yeah?"
"So, let's work out some character backstory that results in my character not running like an elf with his pants down from yours when you hold up your blighted cross."

(Disregard the above if this is one of those intentionally competitive, backstabbing Evil campaigns.)

um.. can't you be a cleric and the use your rebuking to counter his turning?
There is nothing on earth that we share; it is either Valjean or Javert!

"A wizard can in fact be thought of the custodian to a familiar, a terrifying beast that charges its foes, slashing them to shreds while delivering their master's touch spells and bestowing upon their masters incredible bonuses to their hp or skill checks. A wizard is nearly powerless without one."

An Evil cleric Rebukes rather than Turns. Which means that he just stands around rather than run.

The simplest way is just having the evil cleric bolster you. Combine with Ghoul, Lich or basically any other +Turning Resistance race and you're immune to turning as long as the cleric rolls high enough to put you at +5 or higher versus Turning. The highest a cleric can turn is Level+4.

You could also nab the feat Improved Turn Resistance (Libris Mortis p27). +4 boost to your effective character level in terms of turn resistance.

If you can find a way to get always-on protection from good or similar, it'll keep anyone from being able to command you with rebuking.

Libris Mortis has improved turning resistance and also the necropolitan race which is LA 0 race that has an innate turning resistance and can heal naturally. There's no actual immunity to turning AFAIK. All undead can be turned just some are more easy than others.

It would be helpful to know just which undead creature you are planning to be, so we can best determine your options.

Vampire? Ghoul? Wight? Lich? Mummy? Wraith? Revenant? Ghost? Necropolitan? Uh, Rob Zombie?

Rob Zombie can only be turned by clerics holding a blessed pair of barber's shears.

There are evil campaigns that DONT become competitive/backstabbing at some point?

Anyway, that Improved Turn Resistance feat mixed with that Cloak of Turn Resistance should do the trick, thanks.

I'd like to take a moment to recommend Gravetouched Ghoul [Libris Mortis] instead.

Not really. CO's gotten around Cleric Level +15 before.

No, the table stops at Cleric Level+4. Even if you roll 9,001 on your Turning Check the maximum upper limit is Cleric+4 due to the wording of "22 or more" on the table.

+4 may be the highest bonus you can get by rolling, but that doesn't stop you from stacking abilities and items that say something like "You gain +1 to your effective cleric level when turning undead."

I believe one of the variants for a "Good Lich" had blanket immunity to turning. Not sure which one it was, though.

Of course, that doesn't particularly help for an Evil game at all. Just sayin'.

There is gear like Ephod of Authority (MIC), Phylactery of Undead Turning (DMG), Sacred Armor (A&EG) on both armor and shield, the Rod of Defiance (LM) and the Lyre of the Restless Souls (LM) to make +17 without even rolling. With that, even a level 10 cleric could turn Vecna's avatar...lol!

Death knights are immune to turning, but can be banished by Holy Word and similar effects.
