As the old thread reached page 50, I start a new one. So, this thread is about Goblins.

Better this, than tortured to death down in the dungeon.
    Still, it's a bitter end.
When they left the dungeon, they had nothing to lose. If they stay there, they are continued to be tortured, and will eventually die there. If they leave, they either die there fast, or escape and become free. So either way they chose the better fate for them when they ran out of the dungeon.

"Bandaging the wounds under fire" - 'knock them off the wall, oh I guess that works too' (both sides have forces on the wall, the under fire part could end)

We do know of *one* dwarf paladin *not* from Brassmoon who has healed a goblin in past and may be inclined to detect evil. We know of one goblin paladin and one goblin cleric who may level and have days to help with healing the bandaged better if everyone escapes now. Open question whether snake girl or others have magic related to healing.

We have seen from the sewers that the "winning side" can change quickly.

Thorgarth is a Cleric rather then a Paladin, so he'd need to use a spell slot to store Detect Evil, and he'd need to consider the idea that there's a lot of evil people in Brassmoon to bother using it.

And, according to the teaser/filler we got a while back about Forgath and Minmax, during this time they're somewhere in Elven lands. My bet is that next time we see them, they'll be up against Dies Horribly. (Remember that the last real stuff we heard from them was learning about the One-Winged Goblin, and all that stuff.)
Check out a bunch of stuff I wrote for my campaign world of Oz.

We have foreshadowing that there will be some big battle that will pit him against another dwarf. This is a big battle so small chance may come true now or this battle may help set that one up. If so plot may find a way to get him on goblins side. (And Minmax could be forced to join him after the evil humans shoot at Minmax despite his protests)

Brassmoon is also home of a little elf girl who may know that goblins felt bad about accidentally hurting her and saved her from death, that little girl may have told story to other elves.

I'm guessing that Thorgarth will be killed by Kore as aresult of his possible sympathy towards Goblins, which would involve Minmax turning on him due to his views that Goblins are just evil cannon fodder.

His name is Forgath and yes, this theory is common knowledge. But still a theory nonetheless.

Of course, I didn't miss much. Not even a whole page? Certainly isn't like the Dominic Deegan threads, where missing five days would mean I practically have half a completed thread to read.

Thinking on it, it's not so strange.
The prisoners' escape was impressive, and they certainly had some rounds of surprise, but they were not so many, they were all in bad conditions, most of them were severely wounded, or incapacitated to fight (the crippled, the old civilians, etc.), and almost without weapons.
The elite guards (not counting the city guards) were a lot, and all equipped and ready to fight: probably 500, and this counting only the crossbowmen on the walls... on the field there were also the meleers.
Complains (his shield) took care of many of them, but still...

A side note: the minotaur in the last comic, seems exactly the same fallen after the round of bolts, trying to lift the portcullis (same scars on the front and on the horns, etc). Thoughts?

I know what you mean about GS's actions potentially improving relations between "monster" races, Killer. I guess the Minotaur managed to get really lucky as far as the damage rolls went for crossbow bolts.

I was wandering that, given the fact that we've seen him fall to the ground (replaced by the ogre and the ettin), he should be dead.
Maybe he was at 0 hp and rolled lucky for stable condition...

Well... we last saw the minotaur in this strip... he was far away from the gates (right below the platform in the last panel)

His condition, however, can't be seen clearly... he kind of looks like a blob with blood in that strip.

I've said it when we were talking about the comic at the portcullis already - I never understood why people assumed he was seriously harmed there. Sure, he gets obscured by the crowd of smaller creatures squeezing through the hole first, but nothing in there ever looked to me as if Thunt meant for him to be seriously hurt.

Well, he was lifting the portcullis very angrily, then, after the rain of bolts, he stopped to lift and the look in his eyes was fading... vanishing. If he were able to act, he would have finish lifting the gate, instead the ogre and the Ettin took his place.
Sure as hell he was badly wounded but, the evidence is now clear, he wasn't dying.

Hit point system doesn't always work in this comic as one would expect. A wounded character often fight less effectively than one with full HP.

My gods, you mean a creator of a DnD inspired strip might portray combat that's modeled more on real life than rules mechanics!?

    That's just crazy talk.
