Cyberpunk Sound Track Suggestions Needed!
Hi guys,
I'm fully rockin' and rollin' with my Shadows of Brew City Shadowrun game, and the next couple sessions will have the player characters interacting with a local Go-Gang suspected of kidnapping one of the character's street doc contacts.
The PCs are going to be investigating the Gang's haunts in the area, including Noonan's Bar, a seedy-as-frag bar in ganger territory.
I need to set the tone with some good music for the setting. My current playlist consists of lots of industrial and techno:
KMFDM, Ministry, the Prodigy, VNV Nation and Apoptygma Berzerk, with maybe a little Nails, Rammstein and old school Filter thrown in for good measure.
So, the cyber is covered. What about the punk? My punk selections are pretty thin, consisting mainly of Social Distortion, Buck O' Nine, the Dropkick Murphys and some Bill Idol.
Can you guys and gals suggest any improvements? I'd really love to find some techno'ed-up remixes of some good 80's punk stuff like Black Flag or Rancid or something. My google-fu has proved to be pretty weak in that department.

Try the various remixes of HG welles war of the worlds found on the CD, some of them are pretty cool and they have no (or indistinguishable) lyrics
He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

And there's always the Billy Idol "Cyberpunk" album. *ducks*Last edited by bosssmiley; 2009-08-18 at 03:19 PM.

The Mass Effect OST is unsuprisingly synth heavy. Its a fairly robust set of generic sci fi ambient music when playlisted.

Punk?
Anti-Flag, some AFI, maybe throw in some Billy Talent and Offspring. The Vandals should appear somewhere as well.

Re: Cyberpunk Sound Track Suggestions Needed!
Neither cyber nor punk, but definitely overlooked:
Deltron 3030 by Deltron 3030, a group consisting of Del tha Funkee Homosapien and producer Dan the Automator. The entire album works for either a post apocalyptic or a cyberpunk setting, especially Shadowrun. I hope you give it a look. I registered just to tell you about this.
I dunno how you feel about rap, but Del tha Funkee Homosapien is something of an innovator, with really smart and funny lyrics and a great style.
Also, Tool works well with the industrial thing. I'm just getting into punk, so all I could recommend is Bad Brains, Sex Pistols, and Misfits, but I don't think those three would fit well in your setting.

Re: Cyberpunk Sound Track Suggestions Needed!
Specific Song selections:
Chiba City Blues - Epsilon Minus (doubleplusgood, citizen!)
Intelligent Demise - XuberX
Rogue State - XuberX
Anhiliate, Exterminate, Destroy - Rotersand
Band Selections (followed by specific song suggestions):
Skinny Puppy (Inquisition, VX Gas Attack, Testure)
Combichrist (god, pick a song, any song and it fits...fond of Get Your Body Beat)
Icon of Coil (Pursuit, Shelter, Android)
Shoot, I'm sure I'll think of more; this would be easier if I was at home :)
As a note, XuberX is a band local to DC...thier stuff is pretty good, and definately fits a cyberpunk world. You should be able to find all of these selections on ITunes
