Maybe someone's thought of this idea before, but it came to me this weekend flipping through the channels. What about a magic item "remote control" - I'm thinking it would have to be able to cast Haste (Fast forward), Slow (slow obviously), Silent Image and Ghost Sound (create your own program), Prestidigitation (alter the color of people - a.k.a. adjusting the color and contrast), and Hold Person (pause). And possibly Time-Stop, though that would SIGNIFICANTLY increase the cost I'm sure. I don't think there's anything for a "reverse" button is there?

Any other ideas? Suggestions? And how much would something like this cost? Would you want to be able to cast unlimitedly, or would that be too expensive?

Would eject be some form of teleportation?

That's just a custom staff, right? That should be easily done, you just need to look at the crafting rules. It can even be crafted in the shape of a remote control. :3

Perhaps add Plane Shift to simulate changing channels.

lol, nice, I'm liking the ideas so far! This is a little more of a theoretical design. The current character I'm playing is 22nd level, but doesn't have any crafting feats, though I suppose I could potentially wish it into existence if it doesn't cost too much. More for the lulz than anything.

What about a mirror image to simulate poor reception?

I was expecting a thread based around statting up a scrying based wizard of some kind.
(Either using some kind of magic mirror/crystal ball, ethereal projection of some kind, or even just a cat familiar to cast through, so he doesn't have to leave his tower and so he can sit around eating cheatos.)
