Oh, and I think the lines should be thicker and the head should be a bit bigger, but that's just my personal preference.

EDIT: It's excellent for a first avatar, by the way.

To be honest, I think the robes and boots are fine. The biggest problem for me is the hair. He looks like a bald man with a pancake on his head. Maybe have a look at some OotS strips and see how they handle short hair.

Oh, and the eyes are too different in terms of size. I suggest making the big one a little smaller and the small one a little bigger.

Constructive critcism is welcome. I think the robes could be improved...
I haven't done an avatar review in ages, bear with me.

Make the hair a bit larger in general, it's okay if it goes off the head. Perhaps add a few little waves to it in the middle so it doesn't look quite as flat and stuck to his head. Then make the eyes bigger and a touch more even.

As for the robe, the 2 lines at the collar should be curved downwards a tad. His hands are absolutely tiny, and could stand to be stretched a bit more. The right shoe is also a ways too small for my tastes, but I prefer even proportions instead of the normal lopsided Oots thing. So take that as you will.

It's pretty good for a first though.

The first little cluster appears to be a bit... low quality? It's probably just the way my browser's displaying it. It may also be because they seem to be a bit crowded.

Love the elegant, movementful (word?), and simply gorgeous pictures in the second cluster. The larger ones.

I don't know why the quality dropped suddenly, since I always work with the same resolution. I updated the first and third with a different positioning, the quality suddenly went up.

And thanks, that was my latest series of NPCs which the PCs have yet to met.

Yes, I realize I'm answering a question nearly a year old. A practitioner of parkour (a traceur if male, traceuse if female) may tape their sleeves and pants so as to tighten those orifices about their limbs so that their clothing does not catch air. Nice Hunter, by the way.

Switched to Inkscape. Heck of a lot easier, and a heck of a lot better, but it still feels off. Feel free to fiddle with it if you want. Beware: lots of layers.

Inkscape is very user friendly and allows people to drag and morph objects into the shape they want rather than having to draw it by hand. It's the program of choice for people who can't draw with a mouse like me.

That might be useful for me, as I have trouble drawing freehand in programs like MS Paint.
Also, how does my avatar look? I made my first one not long ago, but changed it around a lot to get what I have now. The original's earlier in this thread, if you want to compare.

Well, heres my second avatar, it's for a player in one of my campaigns. I think he's pretty true to the players character, but I'm not sure I like how it looks. The buckles of the coat(the little grey squares) and the inside of the coat look a little off, any suggestions?

He's also really simple looking. is there anything I should add to him?

I've tried GIMP, Inkscape, Illustrator, Paint, and I use Fireworks, and Fireworks looks more simple than Inkscape IMHO, it's more intuitive and easier to draw with the pen, also, for details it's almost like photoshop only easier to use.

    On your Avatar:
It looks a lot more complete, and overall great.
There's just one thing that seems odd, the arm length. I would extend them a bit more and make the sleeves wider and longer.
Also, a minor detail, but the positioning of the axe seems weird, but that's probably just me.

You've got the art style down. Thanks to Trazoi's guide I assume? As with most beginning avatarists, try to keep the lines equal in thickness all the way through (with a few exceptions on small objects, like trim.) Your next step is to throw some action into the guy. He seems evil for sure, but show us that he's evil.

Consistent line sizes are for chumps. I make it so anywhere "flesh" is showing (head, limbs, any unclothed body part) the lines are slightly thicker than where there is clothes. There's other variation too.

I tend to vary my line thicknesses slightly. I use 7 pt as my default, with 8 pt for the arms, 9 pt for the legs and 6 pt for facial features, clothing details and weapons. Occasionally I will creep down to 5 pt, but not often.
