Default (P.E.A.C.H.) Homebrewed Feline Races -

    Selir

Selir is the blanket term for 3 species of feline-flavored humanoids on the world of Thrae. Their basic racial breakdown is as follows:

    Etal & Sadin species

    Show

    Etal & Sadin species
    Pronunciation: Etal: (Eh-tall) Sadin: (Sah-dinn)
    - +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, -2 Strength: Etal and Sadin Selir are naturally quick and agile, as well as social creatures, but their lithe frames simply don’t allow the sheer muscle mass of other races.
    - Medium-sized: As medium creatures, Selir have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size
-Base speed 40 ft: Selir are extremely fleet of foot, and running comes naturally to them
    - +2 Climb, +2 Jump, +2 Balance, -4 Ride, -4 Swim: While natural athletes, Selir are poorly suited to riding, and have an innate aversion to water.
    - Low-light Vision: Selir can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight and similar conditions of poor illumination. They retain the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions
    - Automatic Languages: Common and Seliri. Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret languages, such as Druidic). Selir have a wanderlust in their younger years, and often bring the languages of the world back to their small communities.
    - Favored classes- Bard, rogue

    Col species
    Spoiler
    Show

    Col species
Pronunciation: Col: (Coal) - hard, right?
    - +4 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Charisma: Col Selir are massively built, with thick, powerful builds, and though they are slow compared to the speed of other Selir, they move as quickly as most humans. The Col Selir have a much harder time relating to other species due to their tendency towards isolationism, and their difficulty in reading the body language of most other creatures.
-Medium size: As medium creatures, Col Selir have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size
-Powerful Build- The physical stature of a Col Selir lets them function in many ways as if they were one size category larger. Whenever a Col Selir is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check (such as during grapple checks, bull rush attempts, and trip attempts), the Col Selir is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to them. A Col Selir is also considered to be one size category larger when determining whether a creature’s special attacks based on size (such as improved grab or swallow whole) can affect him. A Col Selir can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty. However, their space and reach remain those of a creature of their actual size. The benefits of this racial trait stack with the effects of power, abilities, and spells that change the subjects size category.
    - Natural Weapons: Col Selir posess retractable claws large and strong enough to be used as a weapon, which do 1d4 + Str modifier damage.
+2 Climb, Jump, and Balance, -4 Ride, -4 Swim, -2 Sense Motive and Bluff: While they are natural athletes like the other varieties of Selir, Col Selir share an equal aversion to water, as well as having a difficult time discerning the facial and body expressions of other races.
    - Low-light Vision: Col Selir can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight and similar conditions of poor illumination. They retain the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions
    - Automatic Languages: Common and Seliri. Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret languages, such as Druidic). Col Selir have a tendency towards mercantile dealings with other races, and have learned the importance of the ability to communicate with them.
    -L.A.- +1
    -Favored class- Barbarian, monk

All Selir share the traits of a coat of fur (heavy for Col; light for Etal/Sadin), retractable finger and toe claws, feline ears, nose and eyes, a non-prehensile tail equal in length to half their height, and digitigrade feet (’toe-walkers‘). From there the species begin to diverge.

Col Selir are particularly imposing, males averaging at 7’2 tall and 300 lbs of powerful muscle, with females not far behind. They have more distinctively feline faces than the other two species, and have fewer variants of fur coloration; from dark gray to pure white, or from deep tan to light beige.

The Col are often more secluded than their counterparts, preferring higher altitudes and heavy, coniferous forests. Their communities tend to keep to themselves, relying on traveling merchants for the majority of the goods they cannot produce. They tend to use more physical than verbal expression, but are not innately violent or territorial.

Etal and Sadin Selir are both more humanoid than the Col. From a distance they may even be mistaken as elves. The primary difference between the two species is a cosmetic one. Etal run between 5’2 and 5’6, around 110 lbs, and have darker colorations of both fur and hair. Their eyes tend to be more metallic in color, and they are often found in warmer, more rural areas, in tribes or small villages. Sadin are typically between 5’5 and 5’10, 130 lbs., with lighter colors in fur and hair and occasionally possess tabby or calico patterns. They can be found in more places around the world, more often within civilizations mixed amongst other races.

Etal and Sadin are both fairly carefree and wild in their demeanors. Mixing with other races is highly acceptable and monogamy is not prioritized, however marriage is a joyous occasion, and rarely ends in divorce. Birth rate among Selir is high, due to a tendency for multiple births but they don’t live as long as humans, and therefore are much more likely to live in the moment. This also drives them more towards the neutral or chaotic ends of the spectrum, with a higher percentage of good than evil. They are highly creative and fun-loving, and only under powerful duress will they buckle down and become more serious.

And Here is an example of what we think they look like - if you can't tell the difference, here's a hint: the big one in the middle is the only Col selir.....and he's slouching...

So there we have it - I think they're well balanced, we've been using them for some time, but any input from the wonderful people on the boards would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Don't the Litorans from Arcana Unearthed do the same thing?
