    Default (4e) Character Creationg Program

    Hey homies!
I finnaly got a few bucks to spare and I decided to get the books I am missing.
    Divine, Martial and Arcane Power.
However my DM asked me if there was a program to quickly make NPC's?
Or well any 4E character making software?

    Hope there is one out.
If you know of anything please do tell me, and hope it's not that expensive!

    Aye, there is.

You can download the demo for free of one of them... But you only get access the first three levels. You need a D&D Insider subscription to update beyond that. The apps are updated monthly with all the content from the Dragon Magazines and new books that come out. For players, this is the Character Builder and for Monsters/NPCs this is Adventure Tools. The Character Builder is REALLY good and has a demo. Adventure Tools isn't great yet, but it's still in Beta.

Avatar by me. It's Incendius Darkscale, a Good Dragonborn Dragon Sorcerer, Demonskin Adept, Prince of Hell, worshiper of the Platinum Dragon (Bahamut), specializing in Fire and Lightning, wielding a staff in each hand.

Cool thanks but I have to keep paying every month to use it?
Can't I just buy it and receive free updates like Knights of the Old Republic games?

You'd need to keep paying to keep getting updates. Being that I don't buy most of the books though, relying instead on the builder's updates, and also get Dragon Magazine, the DDI Compendium and both of those apps, at $6/month, for me it's a good deal. (I went with the yearly option. It's $10/month if you go monthly and $8/month quarterly.)

Also, do you know where I can get the ability cards?
So I don't have to check the handbook over and over?

The Character Builder generates ability cards...

Here's are some sample characters I made in the builder. The cards on pages 3 and after... Are they what you're referring to?

I just print pages 1 & 2 double-sided, then print the pages after on cardstock and use a paper slicer.

Do you have Photoshop? It's the only other way I know of.

You can also just buy the cards, which are of a much nicer and studier quality, I think they are like 2 dollars for a class from a book

Start Menu --> Accessories --> Paint. A lot cheaper than Photoshop. Unless you have a Mac, in which case you use the Mac equivalent to Paint, again much cheaper than Photoshop.

Or you get Gimp, open-source Photoshop clone. All three suggestions, unlike Photoshop, are free.
    Now with half the calories!
