Retributive Spell (3.5)
What are your favorite spells to set up as retributive spells? With only a +1 level adjustment, it's a handy way for a spellcaster to keep the melee monsters away. For low levels, daze person and daze monster make a great escape option!
Why is it the best campaign ideas happen when you're sitting down to someone elses game?
Pun-Pun is an example of the worst case scenario. Never, ever, push your DM that far.

Re: Retributive Spell (3.5)
It's a bad feat, even for a Gish. I don't use it. If it were a bit less... restrictive on what spells could be applied and when you could trigger the ability (it only works against adjacent creatures who hit you with a melee attack, IIRC), then it would be a bit better.
Besides, a Wizard shouldn't be getting hit. Ever.
